How big a role did TBN play in your last tractor, attachment, or equipment purchase?

I was researching small compact tractors for myself and ran across TBN. I lurked for a while, then joined to ask questions. I have to say the opinions and advice I recieved was quite helpful in totally confusing me, shaking me to the core, and making me a quivering pile of jello regarding how I originally looked at tractors. After much therapy, thought and conversation, I was able to determine that the machine that would do the most chores that I needed to get done that fit within my budget was our Power Trac PT425. That was back in 2001. I couldn't have been happier with my decision and the help of the TBN membership.... a great bunch of folks!

I bought my very first tractor last summer and TBN played a huge roll in my research and learning. I knew absolutely nothing about tractors when I started looking, so I came in here and asked a lot of questions (which probably had the old timers rolling their eyes) just to try and learn what to look for in a tractor. Sadly, I had some dealers telling me things that were very misleading and in some cases downright untrue (like how I could wrap a chain around my FEL and pop stumps out of the ground all day). The folks in here were patient and eager to share from their own experience what I really needed to know, and what I should expect when buying my first tractor.

Thanks to TBN and all the great folks here!

Purchase decision? Maybe 10%. I have a lot of dealers within 20 miles of home, plus 3 fairs locally; so I got a lot of research and trial seat time. TBN makes a good source to find out what the dealers don't tell you - what problems each model has.

TBN is a pretty fair resource for advice on how to do something.

And a good one for a slap-your-forehead-I-forgot-that questions.

Not sure about anyone else here but I did a lot of research before buying and was very happy (and am still happy) with my choices of tractor and attachments. But there were still a number of things I wish I could have asked the members here before buying. I think they would have steered me into the next larger model (4310) based on my mowing needs.

I did a lot of reading here as well as asking a lot of questions. The people on here were great at answering my questions. For ME I'd saw the Site was a huge help! After research, reading, and Q&A I selected a kioti ck27hst as well as a toothbar, grapple, disk, top & tilt, and recently a chipper.

how much did the information and advice here help you decide what to buy

I blame TBN 100% for buying a Ratchet Rake. ;) Without TBN I wouldn't have even been aware of the Ratchet Rake's existence much less buy one!

I'll admit that TBN steered me toward the 110. I really thought I wanted a full size TLB. But after seeing how much larger (better word may be bulkier) they were than my 5410, how many hours and how old one would be, I got steered toward a 110, which will do all that I need, though I still think it would be cool to dig 20' with an extendahoe;) All the other tractors were my pre internet stage:)

The best piece of advice I got from TBN when purchasing my tractor was to look at reputable brands but just important was to make sure I was happy with the dealer. My dealer is great and I love my tractor. Great advice so yes TBN helped influence my decision.

I think reading TBN was probably 80-90% of the reason I got my tractor, and with the HST. My dealer was the other 10-20%. I didn't have any first hand experience with CUT's at all before I got my tractor.
Reading here also taught me how useful a QA loader would be, loading tires, extra rear remote, and to get a heavy box blade!
I almost ended up with an old too small half dead kubota that my tractor wheeler dealer neighbor thought was a great deal for not much less than the new Kioti, but some more reading on TBN convinced me to decline... Also its a great place to research implements as well.

Same here... I started looking at the Deere 110 after reading about them on TBN...

CurlyDave was kind enough to share his experiences with his and that was good enough for me... the challenge was waiting till the right one came alone locally and not a 1,000 miles away...
