Anyone leave their tractor out in the weather?

That is funny stuff right there. I have dog houses that are over 32":D
The County issues permits for dog houses and tree houses. They also fine for them if you build without the permit.

For rural areas, they use the areal view on the Internet to look for "illegal" structures so you can't figure to build and they will never see because you are out in the country and it can't be seen from the road.

Total cost: $240. Has stood up to some pretty nasty winds.

Was always told you will pay for a shed either by building one or paying for the damage that storing outside does to equipment

Picked up my TC 55 the day after the transport delivered it to the dealer. It was inside over nite while they attached the loader and rear valves. Has never spent the nite out doors and it never will as long as I own it. Too expensive to let the elements take their toll. Condensation is not a problem in a heated structure.

Our tractor lives outside. It has not suffered any major problems from this life. The other thread had some interesting comments ... but on I will comment on ...

It may be true that a roof would be nice and one can be built in short order ... however, it is not as simple as a "Saturday worth of time". Around here any flat (or slanted/peaked/or anything that could be defined by the County as a roofor deck) that is more then 32" off the ground requires a permit!

To get the permit, you must submit an engineering plan complete with load rates and wind sheer calculations. These formulas are nearly impossible to do yourself - you need to be an engineer or an architect.

So, perhaps your friend/neighbor has already built one ... just borrow his plans and submit them ... Not So Fast ... they put a stop to that too because each plan must have an ORIGINAL signature on it. The engineer/architect will charge you the same for that signature as he will to draw a new plan.

If you get caught with the roof up and no permit you can just pay the fine and it will be OK ... NOT ... they can fine you, make you pay for the permit you should have had and make you tear it down. Then make you submit the paperwork for a new permit complete with the fee for the permit ... then they can "hold the permit" before issuing it or refuse to issue if they feel like it.

So ... our tractor lives outside and works just fine.
Got to love that.

What is their take on "temporary structures" like the Shelterlogic tents?

The "temporary structures" can work. So far, they have not required permits for them. However, if you have one for your tractor and another for another piece of equipment and another for you implements and another for ... you get the picture - if you have several because you need more then one ... they will site you for having a "messy place" and make you clean it up (read ... get rid of the temporary structures) or they will do it and charge you for it in addition to the fines they may hit you with ($250 a day until you comply).

Jeez, where the heck do you live? In my county (whole state so far as I know) if you're outside city limits you do anything you want, no permits, no permission.

Mine spends the winter inside, but it's too much hassle keep it in there when I am actively using it. (Too much moving stuff around to get it in and out!) When it is outside, I keep the seat covered.

I keep mine scattered around outside just in case one of my barns catches fire. A friend nearby had all his tractors and equipment in a big steel shed and it caught fire and burned up everything. The sun is a little hard on them outside but I can live with that.

Here's another example, nearly new tractor caught fire in a shed and burned up lots of other stuff too.
