Hydraulic motor size

Anyone know what size hydraulic motor I need to drive a post hole auger through a gear box? I am wanting to convert a 3 point digger to a hydraulic. Figure if I add a gearbox to it and mount it from a plate it should work. Then I can use it on the front of my skid steer or tractor!

I'd be curious to see if there is some sort of formula that can be used to size a hydraulic motor. I've got a snowblower I've thought about converting over to hydraulic drive.

I will be connecting it to a straight shaft so there is not a need for the splined unit. Although that gives me a few ideas.

I intend to mount straight to the gearbox. then the rest of the unit will be mounted to the skid steer mount.

Just about any hyd motor in that range should work.

The rpm shown is for the GPM indicated, and if you can't provide the GPMs, it will run slower.

Will this motor be used with your track loader or something else.

I believe your loader puts out about 19.8 GPM at 2760 psi.

Yes it is primarily for the skid steer.

Usually have to start by estimating torque or HP required and work back from that point.

Save your self the money and bypass your gear box and direct drive the drill shaft. it is what I did.

Plenty of torque with that motor. 9700 in-lbs. cont. 160 rpm.

How about a picture of the post hole digger put together.

How big an auger have you used to date?
