Here's my opinion.. Like you, I started my tractor driving days on a 88 Case 245. The case was a 2wd with a fel. Although I have very good memories on that ole 245 since i learned to drive with it, it absolutly is NO comparison to my L3200 much less a L3800. I can't count how many times we changed spindles because of the weight of the fel. Now it was a 2wd so that had alot to do with the puny spindles. However my opinion is there is no comparison as to power, lifting, ect. As for the 11K miles without a oil change.... Did you ever have to add oil????:)

Personally,
I don't think you should keep your tractor. Don't let people talk you into adding rear ballast and trying it out, you will only be dissapointed and trade in down the road, losing more money.

I would love to upgrade my tractor because I max out the FEL lift capacity fairly often, I can't lift the rear anymore with 1,100lbs of liquid ballast and a 1,000lb box blade. When you need a bigger tractor, you just need a bigger tractor.

Trade it in and take the loss now, for a minimal loss. I wish I did a while ago but I'm stuck with what I have for now. It works, I do love my tractor, and it does a lot of what I want, just not as much heavy lifting as I want.

i know about the weight on the rear the cat 943b a 1972 had 2 ton of weight out back it was 24000ibs i think i will sell it on ebay and buy a skid loader

You won't be doing much mowing with a skid steer.
If you are doing mostly loader work they are great, but the Hyd. attachments cost BIG BUCKS A hydro drive bush hog mower starts around $3500 .:confused2:

Good luck with e - bay. No one will give retail on that channel. Lookers looking for a bargain. What were you thinking when you purchased this lite duty machine ? Dealers here drop off a tractor for demo. Also the sales person should have recommended the near correct hp for the duties you had in mind.
Now figure out what you need and add 20% more horse power. Your going to take a bath on the trade and buy at retail because they know you have to buy a larger machine. Your stuck with a kubota trade because the JD dealer won't put any money into orange. Your not alone in this situation as this happens quite frequently.

No disrespect Caseman, but it seems like you have no idea what you need, or want. You have provided almost no info on what you use a tractor for and have not answered many of the questions others have asked here...

But I will say, this has been one of the most interesting series of threads I've read in a long while. :D

Agent Blue, you are correct!!:drink:

Your not alone in this situation as this happens quite frequently.

I think that is because many of us are looking for my personal dream vehicle.
It's the combo sports car dump truck w/ FEL.
Yup, it gets 40mpg, hugs the road @ 100mph, carries 20 ton of rock, can load itself with a 2 yard FEL, and only cost $5000 NEW, w/0% financing.

So far I haven't been able to find one:(, so we have to settle for what we think will work, and what we can afford. Sometimes our needs change and it don't turn out too good, and yes it happens quite frequently.:ashamed:

Oh and I almost forgot, you can mow with it too!

Best, Bill

That's right, Bill !

Every machine is a compromise. No such thing as 'the perfect tractor'!

Well, except for the 11k hrs 21 hp wounder tractor. :D
