What's on the menu? Burgers, steaks, chops, hot dogs, bratwurst, ribs, chicken, whatever?

Burgers are on the menu here...nothing really fancy.

Started this thread mainly so I could show off my custom-made grill umbrella mount. It's nothing fancy, simply a section of PVC pipe and a pair of 1 1/2" PVC pipe caps, the bottom one is screwed down to the deck boards. the upper one is cut out with a hole saw. The lower metal tube for the umbrella is inside the pipe itself and the whole thing is bolted thru the deck rail. Be sure to align the pipe properly before drilling thru everything if your umbrella is square like mine. You will never find a more solid inexpensive umbrella mount.

Over the weekend, probably grill some chicken, and a couple steaks. Thinking about getting the Dutch oven out and making a cobbler too.

On Monday, before we eat, will have a minute of silence, and then raise a toast to all those who gallantly came before us and secured our freedom.

And Old Glory will proudly fly, as it always does.

Well stated. I am planning to cook some soap beans with a ham hock in our cast iron dutch oven, topped off with corn bread. My Wife will most definitely suggest other items, but this is for starters. Wishing everyone a Happy Memorial Day.

Let's see...
Tonight is filet mignon, mushrooms grilled
Tomorrow night is wahoo and shrimp on the grill.

Sunday, depending on weather, might do some ribs/boston butts on the PDQ cooker

Monday, I'll still be digesting all the goodness that made its way down my gullet.

According to that menu you provided, my guess is you are not on a retiree's budget like we are...

I had never seen a camp Dutch oven till my kid got in Boy Scouts. The first "Tenderfoot" campout, the Scoutmaster cooked for the adults. He had three camp Dutch ovens stacked, with coals between. A stew, some veggies, and a cobbler.

We have been using them ever since, at home and on campouts.

Filet/mushroom is the only purchase that will be by me only.

Wahoo/shrimp were caught recently/last year (those trips do tend to cost $$$, though)

Ribs/butts will have to be a community deal as there's no way I'm buying all of that as I simply can't eat it all anyways! This is also just a cover to drink beer all day while playing with fire/smoke :)

I'm making my whole shoulder bar-b-q tomorrow (Sat), hickory smoked of course, that's real southern bar-b-q. I make it about twice a year and put the meat in the freezer. My 30+ year old Weber holds two whole shoulders and it usually takes between 7 - 8 hours to smoke it. I hand pull the meat after it cools a couple hours, we prefer the pulled meat, not chopped. I also don't adulterate the meat with any seasonings or sauces - strictly the hickory only for flavoring and then I make a tomato based bar-b-q sauce to put on your sandwich if you like.

I'm being simple by doing a ham on the grill. Baked beans, potato salad and a nice green salad. Lots of good horseradish too.:licking:

I cooked hamburgers for supper tonight. Just for the 2 of us, I use a Char-Broil Gas Patio Caddie . I'd consider it a flimsy toy, but it actually does steaks and burgers very well.
