I notice there is a different "credit" price. It was my understanding that has been illegal for over a decade (maybe two). Either way, that price is outrageous.

It's California, they also tax the crap out of it there, $.67 per gallon tax, second highest. NY is the highest with $.67.4 per gallon tax. We are running about $3.71 for regular and $4.04 for diesel, some places are 8-10 cents higher of course.

I think the last time I saw that was on Sept. 10, 1992. I was taking a motorhome from Sanger, TX, to deliver it in Bristol, VA, and filled up with diesel at a truck stop on the west side of Arkansas. I went inside to pay with a credit card and the cashier charged me a nickel a gallon more than the price on the pump; said the pump price was the cash price. Many years ago I'd seen places that charged the pump price for credit, but gave a discount for cash. I really never knew about legality, but had heard their contract with the credit card companies prohibited "charging more for using the credit card" but that didn't prohibit them from posting a "normal" price, then giving a discount for cash.:laughing:

Don't know where you drive but that's common up and down the I81 corridor.
At least it hasn't gotten as high as it did in 2008.

Best I've seen today was $3.419 for regular in area north of Austin. Been falling for couple of weeks. Heard that gas supplies highest they have been in years. Hope they fall further after the holiday.

Apparently the cash/credit price being the same was once enforced by the credit card processors, not the law. This was found to be illegal, which opened the door for different cash-credit prices within the last 8 months.
Looks like it's about to happen across the US, so get your cash supplies stocked up.

Once again, that was local.
It's been that way up the I81 corridor for years, if not decades.
Usually it was about a nickel a gallon.
Regular dropped to 3.29 on Friday.
What gripes me is that a few months ago the price for ethanol free was 10 cents a gallon more and now it's up to 20 cents more per gallon. The extra expense wasn't too bad when I was only using it for my small engine equipment but now I'm running it in the Suburban too since the ethanol was causing problems with even that big engine.
I really don't understand why it costs more to have them NOT put ethanol in the darn gas.

Here in N.C. gas is $3.33 and diesel is $3.65 @ Wally World / Mur. and others are $3.33 and $3.89 , just down the road .:thumbsup:
