Jim,
Sorry for the delay as I was plain tired yesterday after work..attitude!
The LT-712 is fun to fly. I forgot it was two speed and started flying it at highest speed. It would start off like a bull at of a chute and I would trying chasing it instead of flying it! Must have looked funny to my wife as I did so!
It will go (from what I can tell) about 100 feet (maybe more) with NO wind. I also had it up about 20 feet with slight wind and a few times a few feet with wind of some speed.
It is RC, not IR. Be sure to keep the antenna end pointed at the craft and not off to the side. This seems to help for some reason.
My craft tends to drift to the right and I initially had problems with the trim adjusting. Then I read where one guy solved this problem by taping a small washer on the side of the craft opposite of the drift. This seems to stabilize the LT-712.
NOTES:
* The instruction book is useless as it must be where a Chinese translated it from Chinese to English. It is pretty messed up. So I put it away as I got dizzy reading it!
* Do not charge more than 60 minutes at a time. Do read the instructions about the light on the charge. When the light says it is ready..it is. My first charge was ready in 15 minutes so it must have been pre-charged.
* Flight times with full charge is about 15-20 minutes although I seem to get more.
This thing is tough. Initially I kept turning the copter on it's side and the blades beat the ground. Do start out on grass.
I am going into the woods this weekend to a spot I cleared near a huge tree to see how high I can go as the trees block a lot of the wind. Will send try to post video.
We have a river that I would like to fly over but I am afraid to do so for now.
This is a good starter RC that I paid $80 for. I found them on Amazon for $60 yesterday.
They are fun and I would like to move up once I get better, or maybe I like this and will just be satisfied!
