 Amen. You said it brother. I paid cheap and got cheap. I don't know why I didn't remember my mom buying one and it breaking off at the spout a few months later.

I would return it. But I did take it apart. So warranty is pretty much void. And it's just not worth the gas to make the 60 mile round trip.

I'll just chalk it up to a learning experience and not purchase anymore el cheapo faucets. As soon as I can. I'm gonna purchase a good brass and copper one.

So far with the other faucet I still have good water pressure.

I saved that website. We have some good supply houses but never know when it may come in handy.

I saved it as well. Next faucet will be a good one. I got the idea to put the old taller spout from my old faucet on the new one and you know the faucet actually works like it should now.

The spout was way to restrictive. The spout that came with the new faucet had just a tiny pathway for the water to go through.

The old spout is just a long curved 1/2" brass pipe.

The spout fit the faucet just fine and got full pressure. So I am now able to use my new faucet. The old one was leaking a bit and not shutting off all the way.

So the problem was in the spout. I think I'll just throw the spout that came with the new faucet away.

The reason for the tiny holes was probably a water saving feature.

I like to be green and save and all. But I would like to fill a glass with water sooner than 5 minutes. And I'd like to get my dishes done sooner and not have to wait for 20 minutes for the sink to fill up with water.

Then the time it takes to rinse the dishes. lol

I had a somewhat related issue with the showerhead in the mobilehome we live in, the first time I took a shower. When I switched it from tub-fill to showerhead all I got was an anemic spitting from the shower.:confused: When I took the head off and looked inside, there was the washer with a tiny hole for the water to pass. That might have worked, sort of, with city pressure in the line. We take our water from a cistern and use a pressure system which supplies a little over 40 PSI. Once I removed that offensive restriction, I was able to finally get wet.:thumbsup:

All the fixtures in this home are the "budget" variety and I have been threatening to replace them with the old-fashioned kind - you know - the ones where you have a separate handle to turn when you want cold or hot water and when you want warm, you open both. Remember those?;)

With the rental property I have had no end to the trouble with modern valves... took them all out and put in the old fashion kind with separate hot and cold... no more trouble and no more expensive parts.

Might work ok in some areas... absolute nightmare in an area with pipes dating from the 1922... every time there is road work in the neighborhood... the screens and balance valves have to be disassembled and cleaned.

I'm on a well so I don't have city pressure either. Well I could have city water, but had it shut off and hooked up the old well, as I couldn't take the Chlorine they were adding to the water. It was getting so bad it was burning my tongue, and I would have stomach aches, when I would drink a glass of water.

The city done got 8 violations for too much Chlorine. I don't know why they don't learn. :confused2:

So I said heck with them. It's nice not having that $40.00 a month bill either.

I'll deal with the lower water pressure. This well water is just pure and much better tasting and I don't get the stomach aches I did with city water.

We did get a letter a few years ago, stating we had to close up all the wells in town as all the aquifers in town were contaminated. But yet the city drilled a new well into those "Supposedly contaminated" aquifers. :confused2:

I also love those old high flow faucets, much better.

On another note. Today when I was taking my old shower head off to clean it, as I was un threading the shower head broke off dropping one end into the tub and leaving the threaded end still on the shower head pipe.

It was that corroded. It's a wonder it didn't fall off sooner.

Artisan, are you having any trouble with the yellow brass valves and fittings? I have had to go to all red brass. The yellow is dezincafying. I find yellow brass valves with holes in them just 5 years old.

Yup! Yup! :mad::mad:

Typical "do as I tell you - 'scuse me while I do what I told you not to!"

Was it the city's health department issuing the notice or was it the public works which where we used to live, calculated sewage disposal rates according to water usage? If the latter, you can guess what their REAL motivator was.

It was the public works who issued the notice. But they put down on the notice that the health department was requiring them to send out the notice that all wells be closed up.

Okay. I thought. So then the city's gonna have to close their well up too. lol

Then their won't be any water.

I contacted the health department and they told me that they were not involved in the letter on the wells, and they hadn't been out their to test any wells, except for the city's well. And everything turned out clean.

The city was trying to get more money off of me through my water and trash bill than my parents.

My parents trash bill itself was $11.00 a month, but on mine they were charging $15.00, the water meter base charge for my parents, $19.50, my base charge $25.00 a month.

I didn't notice the price difference until one day I went to pick up my parents mail, and had a look at the water bill. (There just mailed out as a postcard) So I was able to see it without opening an envelope.

That pissed me off, those crooks. I even went down to city hall and demanded an explanation and asked them to fix their mistake.

They said they would. But never did. So after 4 months of trying to get them to straighten it out. I told them to shut the water off.
