It is only a matter of time until the government declares water carcenogenic.

Well I suppose it is if it is contaminated. One thing that made me feel better was the fact that camp fire smoke is 10 times worse. The Boy Scouts better watch out!

Everything is a carcinogen. Funny thing is the rats that they test this stuff with will develop cancer doing nothing at all.

I thought breathing caused cancer.

Hi all

Studies of diesel fumes have been made for a few decades now and it's known that they cause health problems. That's why mining companies that have diesel machines operating underground spend quite a bit of money ensuring the emissions are as low as possible. I actually came across a medical study of diesel emissions a few months ago, it's buried somewhere in my files. As we understand more and more we will l find that some things are more dangerous than we assumed or know at a prior time and some things will be found to be less dangerous. people should be thankful that there is ongoing medical research looking at the statistical incidence of health issues of diesel. Miners and other workers and employers can then take appropriate actions to alleviate the risks. We can't eliminate them but by knowing what levels have what risks we can mitigate the statistical impacts.

That is why I only operate my tractor outside in well ventilated fields.

Some of these studies seem like a page from the book of the obvious. Sure, I agree it is nice to know precisely how bad something is for you, but is it really a shock to anyone it is hazardous to breathe? I think anyone who has been inside a building with nearby diesel equipment has figured that one out.

Recently i was moving my large table saw inside my workshop with my tractor and, letting it idle while I did something outside, nearly passed out trying to walk back into the workshop. It was like hitting a wall of viscous fluid in the air. A study was not needed to know this was bad to wander about in. Just saying ;)
