Wife and I are attending a wedding this Friday...she wants to go buy a new outfit although she already has enough clothing to supply 35 women with a wardrobe. As for me I have one suit, a few good pair of slacks and jeans, and about 15 shirts, plus the workwear grubs I use to do outdoor jobs. Her clothing takes up 60-70 times the space mine does....I will never understand who women want so much clothing in the first place.

Does anybody know the reason?

I have struggled with that question for years; we have 5 closets in our house and I have about 1/2 of the space in one closet; not to mention the dresser space she has.

It just is, it passeth all understanding. It is just a facet of their being that distinguishes them from men. It seems so ingrained it must be genetic. Ponder many things but waste not a moment on this one.

If I may plagiarize your signature for a moment -"Good judgement comes from experience, and I will sadly admit that too much of my experience came from bad judgement." This may be one of those times if the wife reads TBN. I guess I'm lucky - my wife just collects critters.

Not sure on the answer, been trying to figure that one out myself. My sister has a closet AND her bed room packed full of clothes that people give her. She just can't say no. You can't fit nothing else in the closet, it's packed so full that you can hardly get the door shut. lol

And her bedroom only has a pathway to her closet and bed. Rest of the space is taken up by clothes. Then there's the old house that were fixing to tear down, that has piles of clothes in it.

I keep asking her? Why you need so many clothes? The only answer I get is, in case my other clothes wear out. lol

I can wear them. I'm like. You have around 3,000 pants, 3,000 shirts and 50 pairs of shoes, not to mention 200 dresses that she will never wear. I don't know why she doesn't donate them.

She even wanted to use my extra bedroom in my mobile home as storage for clothes. I told her the moment you do, there going to the dump. lol

And by dump, I mean out in the brush pile up in flames.

Geez, a suit? lol I gave mine to a struggling plumber back in about 1975. I wear jeans to weddings or I don't go.
Women cannot be seen wearing the same clothes to special occasions. It just dosen't happen. Remember they were made from a specimen of a man? They just couldn't get all our good bits at once but decided to run with it anyway.

Distrust any enterprise that requires new clothes.

Lol. Now that's a good one. And something for us to think about. I do have lots of tools as does my dad. Me and my dad always buy more tools even though we have the same tools.

Your right. Me and my dad buy more tools than we need. So were doing the same thing. But with tools. :)

I love this song. How many of us jump up and down like fools when we see the new tools? Or tractors? lol

The Truth about men. XD.

If you look back in history 1700's France, Spain and other part of Europe), it wasn't always the women who were the fancy dressers. Even the military organizations were peacocks.
I'm no psychologist, but I think women have a need to attract a mate...whether this is a genetic thing or cultural, I've no idea. I suppose it's more cultural...look at the number of magazines and TV shows focused on how women can improve their looks or dress. Very few magazines and shows of this nature are directed toward men...GQ is the only magazine I can think of, actually.

Face it. Women are there to make the men who dress like slobs look good. Works for me and my 5 free Menards t-shirts and flannels. :laughing:Don't rock the boat or you will be giving up your toys.

Roy, obviously you have never read an issue of ESQUIRE magazine....

And to those here who say we have too many tools, one NEVER outgrows tools and they ALWAYS have value and DO NOT become obsolete like fashions do. I was at Goodwill today, probably a quarter of the merchandise offered for sale was womens clothing and shoes, but the TOOLS that were for sale would not have cost me more than a $20 bill.

I REST MY CASE !!!!

I don't think you will find many here who will disagree with you, but that's just the way it is.

I will add that I don't have a lot of clothes either. I do have a couple pair of $700 or $800 boots and a few $500 or $600 hats. My wife has probably 20 pair of shoes that did not add up to the cost of one poair of those boots. I don't complain much. It won't do any good anyway.
