Which tooth bar Markham or Wr Long?? Pros & cons

/ Which tooth bar Markham or Wr Long?? Pros & cons #11
Ordered the Markham last Tuesday..arrived on Thursday used it to do some landscaping on Friday. Well made and easy to install. To save on shipping you will need to have it shipped to a local business in town which is what I did...$185 (plus $65.71 shipping to Virginia). One of the mounting brackets that bolts to the bucket was bent /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif ..probably in transit but I was able to easily straighten it .

I enlarged the pic, and looks like it needs to slide back into the bucket about 2", all the way back to the bucket cutting edge, lucky it didn't bend it all out of shape, good eye you got there.

He did mention that he broke a tooth shank. My quess is that is the reason why. The shanks are not up against and supported by the bucket edge .

Danny,
That's a good suggestion. I will ask markham .So far, feedback on the markham and wr long have been positive. The only difference is that Markam has 5 teeth and Wr long has 6 teeth for a 48" bucket. One less tooth doesn't appear to be a major concern.

Thanks

It's my understanding that Markham can add a 6th tooth if you want it for a slight additional fee.

Hopefully skypup will comment on this. A broken tooth on a properly mounted bar doesn't make the manufacturer look too good unless it was abuse. I bought one of their root grapples and they seem conscientious.

I just built my toothbar and it is the 5 tooth variety on a 48" bucket. I thought that that would be the best bet. Now that I have put a couple of hours on it today, I think a sixth tooth would have been better /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I am digging in an area with a lot of clay and mango sized rocks. I end up wiggleing inbetween them sometimes. But for general digging anything is better than the bucket edge /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif JMO Steven

Hi all,

I thought I knew how to use the "interwebs," but I cannot find a website for the W. R. Long Toothbar company. :ashamed:

Does anyone have a link for me?

Thanks in advance!
