Getting Rid of Mice in my shop ?

/ Getting Rid of Mice in my shop ? #91
I just set out a bucket in my workshop and in my house. I'm so excited! My house smells like a burial chamber with the smell of dead mice in the walls from the past few smoking hot days. Apparently one or two didn't survive the heat.. unfortunately for me they died somewhere out of reach :( Rotting flesh, not awesome.

Here's hoping I catch the rest of the evil family! Not sure how I'm going to eliminate them when they get caught, though. I'm not one for killing things for no good reason.. and I don't dislike any of my neighbors

Any tips on killing them semi-quick/painlessly?

It is not showing the ramp needed for the little varmints to scurry up on.

A paper plate set up like this (acts like a flapper valve also works VERY well. Put a little peanut butter on the edge and they just flip right into the water.

The key is to offset the plate a couple of inches so the un-baited edge rests on the lip of the bucket. Self setting and with a 5 gallon bucket and 4 inches of water, pretty much capable of taking care of most mouse populations.

My bucket and peanut butter have not gotten a mouse yet...I have the spinning can in the middle..But it is dry, will add some used cooking oil to the bottom and see about that one?

Same here, no mice. I have two buckets with the spinning can. The cans have PB rubbed on them and some RB in the bottom as well (empty buckets). I was definiteyl expecting a lot more action, seeing as I usually see the stupid things in the corner of my eye when on the couch at night. Overly smart little terrors.

I tried the can in the bucket, but overall for me what works best and is easy is a bucket 2/3 full with water and a couple handfuls of sunflower seeds thrown in. Don't forget the ramp. This works well with mice and great with gophers.

Well I think getting rid of mice is cumbersome process but there are many natural or human ways to so. Like you can use peppermint oil to get rid of them

You both said dry or empty bucket. Are you sure you aren't catching them and they are just jumping back out? The water in the bucket is not just to drown them, but also to stop them from jumping out after they fall in.
