Here is a option that works also with the bucket trick. Run the wire, I use a coat hanger, through a pop can in the middle so it will spin. Then put the peanut butter on the can, mouse jumps on it it spins and they fall into the liquid. I use RV antifreeze so they don't stink. Be sure no kids or animals can get to it. Also build them a little ramp up to the lip of the bucket on the outside. CJ

Kind of ghetto but it might work if you feel like experimenting.. Pull apart a CRT type TV or Computer monitor. Make sure it has been off for a long time. Take the high voltage lead off the back of the CRT run it out to a point where you can put some bait on a piece of metal. Have that isolated and protected so that you or pets don't get to touch it. To work even better have a piece of metal grounded for them to walk onto to get to the bait. Small TV's and Monitors have about 12,000 volts at the HV lead. Not a lot of current and it hurts like heck to get zapped by it. Don't ask how I know...:confused2:

You will need capacitor discharge or 220 volts..to kill the mouse...110 volts just made them jump..

What about a 12,000 volt fence shocker? ...seems that would take care of the problem :)

I have used this in Lake House, Camper, Boats and Shooting house and seems to work if they stay fresh. I use a lot of them and it is not a unpleasant odor.
Tractor Supply carries it also.

Easier still.
Simple access like a ramp (stick leaning on side of bucket) and bait; popcorn works, peanut butter smeared on bucket sides!
With about 3 inches of water they will drown!
In my log cabin I simply placed the bucket against the stone fireplace with popcorn in bottom and caught dozens that way.
Using water, peanut butter smeared does the trick. Forget the fancy wires and drums etc.
All the reading I have done on baiting shows PB to be the best all around bait for most every vermin out there.

I have 10 acres of balsam fir. Guess I could make my own.
Thanks for the tip!

If no one has mentioned this, put a little used oil, from fried chicken or something in bucket instead of water, just enough to cover the bottom. they can't jump out of a five gallon pail. and they will JUMP themselves to death in 24 hrs. have caught at least 50 mice this way.

the traps i built used corrugated cardboard and underground utility marker flag

I have used peppermint oil on cotton balls. Mice hate the smell and stay away.
No bodies to dispose of. Keeps squirrels away too.

I have tried just about everything, I have a wind up trap that never caught a thing, regular traps work for a while till they get wise, same with poison bate, but the 5 gallon bucket works the best. I don't do anything but put a little bit of wine in the bottom. doesn't matter what kind. they jump in and can't get out. I don't know if they drink it and get drunk or what but have caught 6 of them at a time before. I learned this because I had a 5 gal. bucket I used to use to take scraps to the garden in. One day it was empty but had two mice live in it, apparently they would go in and eat but if it was empty couldn't get out. I tried baiting it and some baits worked well, some didn't. Then one day I spilled some wine in another bucket and an hour late caught a mouse. I have been using wine as a bait ever since. Doesn't take more than an inch or so...and no need for a ramp or string or any of that nonsense. They get in easy enough, just can't get out.

The wine is for me... The mice will have to settle for something else! LOL
