Here's my Noob question. Is it a good idea to use the FEL to lift up the front end off the the ground to take the wheels off? Besides the obivous saftey issue the only thing I could think of was it would unwanted strain on the tractor frame and FEL arms.
Also, do I need to take the FEL off to jack up the tractor to take one of the tires off?

Thanks for the replies

I have used a loader for years to jack up the front end of the tractor.. You can point the cutting edge of the loader bucket straight down for maximum lift. then put 2 jackstands under the axle on each side to secure the tractor. I would never put any part of your body in danger with a tractor held by the loader.

Same here; won't hurt the tractor and is a lot quicker.

Yes, use the loader, but don't overlook putting jack stands under the axles before you remove a wheel or get under the tractor. Many/most of our tractor's FELs will bleed down slowly over time.

Agreed, I usually lower mine to rest on the stands so if anything fails nothing gets broken or knocked loose.

While you have it off the ground on the loader grease the front end - kingpins, etc before setting it back down. Lets the grease get into the tight places better.
