Buying Advice Why did you buy a John Deere?

/ Why did you buy a John Deere? #41
Some twenty odd years ago I bought a used David Brown 42 HP tractor. I once asked a farmer I had gone to school with what he thought of it and he replied that he wouldn't have bought it. Reason why? It ain't green!
There is a lot of that mindset around here.
Today I'm at a point where I'm buying perhaps my last unit of whatever and I'm not in the mood to compromise or accept second best and I can afford to pay more to get what I want. But I still want real value for the money so I did a pretty through search for tractors in the size range I wanted. Plenty of dealers around close by with Kioti being the farthest away at 45 miles. JD and NH both within ten miles with excellent reputations. So it came down to the tractors themselves and price for complete packages. Side by side comparisons and the John Deere 50 xxE series is just a lot more tractor then what the competition is offering and the price was the same or better. Sure if you need to get into tight places a WM45 or a Kioti DK50SE have a smaller foot print but if I don't have eight feet between two trees then one of them needs to be thinned out anyways.
So I bought the JD because well because "It's Green"

I want to thank each and every one of you that has posted on this thread. I have decided to buy a John Deere for a few reasons....The simple fact that I have always wanted one and now have the opportunity, my son is always playing with John Deere toys and what would that say if I brought home something other than "GREEN," and the long standing history of exceptional quality and service from a great dealer that is about 5 miles from my place. Some of those reasons are not "good" reasons, but I only want the best and I personally believe John Deere is just that. Now, I just need to pick out what I am going to get.

It was the cab. NOBODY builds a cab tractor like JD.

Nothing to do with any longstanding brand preference on this one. Just happened to be in the right place at the right time when the right deal was put together for me.

No complaints. Yes, green parts & green service are a bit more expensive, but overall the experience has been a good one.

You will be happy with your decision. There are always going to be people that scoff at the green. Tell you that you overpaid and my fill in the blank can do anything that John Deere can do. That's human nature. But this life is a marathon not a sprint and quality lasts.

Oh. And my family would have killed me if I bought anything else ;-)

I've held off on posting in this thread till now, but I can't wait longer.

I thought they gave me the best value, otherwise I wouldn't have bought them. Don't really care what you 'anti-greenies' say about the paint or anything else, fact is they've been doing something right for over 175 years. When that changes, I'll turn elsewhere, but for now I feel I have to most reliable, dependable and longest lasting machine for the best price. They sell more total equipment than any other company in the world, so someone must agree with me that they are getting a good value, otherwise they wouldn't be the superpower in equipment they are!

p.s. Congrats on the 5045E btucker!

I am always impressed by JDs Parts system, dealer network, quality, and color. Their engineering department seems to know what they are doing as well, go figure.
