In my 2004 Yukon that I owned, I read that you would only use it when pulling a trailer that weighed more than 1/2 the vehicle weight. So when I hauled a car rolling chassis (no engine/interior) I did not use tow haul, but when pulling my tractor I always did. Another thing that I remember is having to give it the gas to make me fell like the transmission had a solid shift. Even driving with no load, the transmission never seemed firm, but if you put your foot down, solid shifts, load or not.
