Current: JD 955 70 loader,BH,MMM, JD755 52fel,mmm, (sold), 655 70fel.,mmm (sold), Ford 8N's w/ loaders x3 (all sold)
Ok, just sold a 755 (first I had a 655, have I yet said I love the X55 Series?), picking up a low hour 955, I have a New Holland 758C backhoe in new condition, which I bought and painted green and decide was too big for the 755. I paid,.....$1800 for the hoe, a SCREAMING deal, I was the second Craigslist call 10 minutes after he posted it, and immmeadiately hoped in my truck for the hour drive to "hope" the first guy hiccupped (he did), BAM, bought it with people calling the guy nearly non stop as we went to my bank branch in his hometown to get the cash. Looks like they put it in the barn and NEVER touched it. Sooooo, here it is, just under a thousand pounds, and nearly identical specs to the JD8 (perhaps built by the same company). I can fab just about anything and read DFKrug's ENTIRE subframe posts last night, no worries, I engineer, design and fab ALOT professionally, and blacksmith etc, ton of metal working machins, plama cutter, mig, forge, etc.....so building my "up close" sub-frame ladder support not hooked to the three point mounts will NOT be a problem. I know I will need a "power beyond kit", or make one myself, not much to those, I put one on the 755.

What do ya think folks? I can easily foam fill the rear tires (local shop already did my forklifts and skidloader tires), so a little more ballast, and I will be running R4's that is first thing I always do, swap out rim/tire combo to what I need (R4s). ??

Thanks, Ironwood

I suppose you could build the subframe to mount it, but it seems like too much hoe for the 955. Due to the relatively light weight of the 955, the 7 backhoe can drag the 955 around... the 8 even more so. I don't know what the gpm specs are for the 8, but the 955 only has about 4 gpm available through the power beyond. If you don't try, you won't know.

I could use a PTO pump to get the GPM up. The 4GPM is an important spec, where did you get that? I would like to know as it is good "beta".

Thanks for the thoughts.

My bad... it's more like 5 gpm.

The 955 has an implement pump rated at 7.2 gpm. The first device the oil flows through is a 70/30 flow divider that sends 30% of the flow to the power steering circuit. The remaining 70% of the flow goes through the loader SCV's, then through the power beyond circuit (if equipped), and finally through the rockshaft before arriving back at the reservoir. 70% of 7.2 gpm is 5.04 gpm.
