I believe it is the original generator and alternator. It is 6 volt. I haven't physically added anything. I am not particularly sure if it is charging or not. I use the tractor usually about two to three days a week. It worked well for about three weeks and then it would turn over. I had to replace the battery previously when I first got the tractor because of the same issue. I am not really sure how anything is wired or how many wires anything has to be honest with you. In all honesty, I know absolutely nothing about wiring period. I have became pretty familiar with the tractor but not with the wiring. By the way Soundguy, I changed all of my fluids with your advice earlier. Thanks for the help. It really worked out for me.

hmm.. you keep having to repalce a battery and it won't start.

sure soulds liek a charge issue to me.

time to do some troubleshooting.. .. way easier to make it charge than buy a battery each time it goes flat.

is the charge indicator lamp coming on when you turn t he key on?

The charger bulb does turn red when it actually starts. I just had the problem two days ago and I didn't look down at the bulb. However, when I usually try to start it, yes the bulb comes on. I just don't know if it did it the other day or not. When it runs and I start it the bulb does come on.

Do you have a volt meter? If not, you can buy a really cheap one at a place such as Radio Shack or Harbor Freight. Measure the battery voltage before starting and again after starting and report back the voltages. If the voltage doesn't go up above 6 volts while running, it just isn't charging.

I have a 641 Workmaster and after replacing the pto shaft seal saw the fluid was very old and nasty, the drain plugs underneath made me question it. there are 2 drain plugs about 6 inches or so apart, are both of these for the differential? Please help. Thanks Rand

if you pulled the pto shaft to change the seal, then you KNOW that you opened 2 sumps.

hyds sump is seperate from diffy sump.

Ok thanks, but will both fill at the same time when I refill, never worked on a tractor before, the plugs I pulled were like I said about 6 inches apart the rear one was maybe 1/2 " off the rear end hub, they were perfectly inline just seperate, this guy must of never did anything the fluid drained looked like thick chocolate milk, so when I refill, I was told 5 gallons, will they both fill at the same time or is there a differnt fill point for each? Thank you so much

seperate sumps, seperate drains, seperate fills.

diffy fill is on the right rear behind the seat.

hyds fill is on the left side under the seat.

tranny fill ( you didn't mention..e tc.. ) is by the shifter.
