When did all this "zombie" stuff start, and where did it come from?
I was thinking of this today and the reason that came to me is that its a way to "prep" with out being labled a prepper. Because people can joke about it and say "oh that for the zombies ha-ha" its makes it "acceptable".
Its also a way to learn how to shoot with out comeing across as a "gun nut". (Please dont take quotes as my reasons, I was prepping back when it was called parnanoid...lol).

remember when cdc put up the 'zombie plan' on it's website.

in actuality it was simply a re-write of their emergency plan of what to do if a pandemic disease hit... just changed some wording to say zombie.

what was the effect? the hit's on their website, downloads of the text and people reading it online went up darn high.

and since it's the same info on what to do if a mass bird flue hit.. then it's good the people know the info.

few wanted to set and read thru 'dull' emergency disease control methods.. but reading about preventing the spread of zombie disease was entertaining.

same info though.

they had to sugar coat the message a bit to get it out.. but they got it out!

You may have read about the 25 year old woman in Detroit killed when she was hugging an armed, off duty cop.
Here's a link to the article:
Detroit, Michigan Woman Fatally Shot Hugging Off-Duty Officer

Apparently, she was behind him when she was hugging him..and somehow, the holster was rotated 110 degrees before the discharge. The holster was (per the article) a soft material. The handgun was a S&W M&P .40 Caliber semi-auto,

I just cannot see how this happened unless there was deliberate manipulation of the holster...any thoughts?

I read that too this morning and I simply cannot see how it possibly could have happened as described.

Shoulder holster or a shirt w/inside gun pocket is what I figure and she has long arms and/or the cop was a skinny guy. my .002

The article referred to a "waist holster" of soft material. Regardless of the holster type, I don't see how mechanically one could fire by being hugged. Police Officers get into scuffles and fights all the time without their weapons going off and I am discounting uniformed Officers with security holsters.

Well thats presuming the media knows what its talking about. I have a real soft glove soft (and expensive I might add) holster for my G30 that could easily be manipulated to fire the pistol, I dont use it because re-holstering is dangerous with a Glock using it. I find it hard to believe also btw.

It is a belt slide however it would shoot me in the thigh rather than out the back etc thats why I chose to believe the position was shoulder rig based on the data I dont believe the media ever. But I am very sorry she was killed that is a fact that will not change.

Point taken, but I have to base my opinion on the information at hand. I literally have two big ammo boxes of holsters I have tried over the years; need to get rid of them.

I carried in a shoulder holster for years and agree that is a lot easier to believe, I just find it hard to believe any modern weapon discharged when someone hugged someone.
