While we wait for the new renewable (what ever that is) clean unicorn energy Obama is developing for us all. LOL. I had no idea the catskills mountains were such a polluted mess. I suggest you move, it you live in the catskills, I know a guy there who says its a polluted mess, say Cuba or Scotland were people are free and have great healthcare was suggested to me by same guy.

I would love to see an honest, totally unbiased study of what it would cost to make a productive family of 4 with a garage, a/c, air compressor, electric range, dryer, TV's, back up heat if you use gas/oil/coal/wood for primary etc... self sufficient 100% of the time while still selling to the grid and see if the universe is going to live long enough to get back the investment assuming no subsidies from anywhere. I'd bet not.

I always find it interesting when the people who aren't doing something and aren't living a certain way know more about what's going on than the people actually doing it! So we should all be living YOU Way or we are Wrong.

The WHO contributes lung disease and cancer to pollution. Talk to doctors and health care people about the alarming cancer rates today. I have. Here is another group with an axe to grind and get money from the free world (USA)

I have previously posted the effects to our lakes and oceans with respect to their over acidity. Things don't stop growing but the acidic effects change growth.
We are seeing pine tree die offs in the Catskill attributed to acid rain. Crops suffer also. So all the Acid Rain comes from fossil fuel. This years forest fires don't count. Volcanoes don't count, Its all Man Made.

Effects of Acid Rain - Forests | Acid Rain | US EPAOver the years, scientists, foresters, and others have noted a slowed growth of some forests. Leaves and needles turn brown and fall off when they should be green and healthy. In extreme cases, individual trees or entire areas of the forest simply die off without an obvious reason.

My PV modules are guaranteed to put out full power for 25 years with 10% diminished output after that, they will still be putting out power in 35 and 40 years. At that point they will be highly recycled. So nice they have that great guarantee, Just no company to back it up.

According the Engineering Efficiency Times Sept/Oct 2011, the energy used to create a PV module is regained in about one year with 29 years of clean energy afterward. Hog wash

Solar Companies went out of business because they were being undersold by unfair imports from China, we now have tariffs on Chinese panels. My panels are all made in the USA. It has been less than 3 weeks since GE went out the solar business. Bet no one informed them how good business was.

PV modules don't use plastic, they are glass, aluminum, etc. Due to the angle of the panels hale hits them at an angle with little or no damage. Are you concerned about the windows in your house and car from hale storms? Bet you missed the news story about hale. that showed it taking out car windows as well as home windows.

The angle of approach in northern climates where snow falls is steep. Here my winter angel is 28 degrees from vertical, snow immediately slides off panels. On my roof where the snow does have a chance of accumulation I have a long snow rake to remove it. I did this a few times last year. In order to drive a car that is not garaged in my area it is a common practice to clean of cars, driveways, etc. It is part of living in northern climates. You live in a great area, No Ice Storms.

I have so many panels I produce enough energy even on overcast days. That's great how many years wages for the average family did they cost. I've seen your claims about how they were subsidized by the power Co Op. That cost every member $$ to buy YOU solar. Even the ones that could not afford them themselves. The average sun in our area, taken from long time surveys, is over 5 hours conservatively, more than enough to power our home and send excess to the grid. Batteries are only used when th grid fails, their life expectancy is over 20 years, 95% recycled. BS and you know better. There is not a currently made battery that will last anywhere close to 20 years,

It baffles me that the opponents of alternate energy are so ill informed yet so outspoken.

Rob

I know that all of us that are not doing things your way are either ill informed of just flat stupid.
Your way of helping the planet is the only way that counts.

One small fact - Nothing you have would be possible without the fossil fuel that you hate.

You made statements you can't support.

Yes, we all need fossil fuel now but the answer is to use that energy wisely to make alternatives that will then make alternatives. There are plants now making wind and solar from wind and solar.

This is a classic mistake. We want to live with our foot to the floor, those days are over, we have to learn conservation. Fossil fuel has spoiled us. How long do you think we can live this way? How long do you think this planet can support that philosophy?

With that said we live very comfortably here. I think the trade off to fighting wars to procure oil, to give money to the terrorists who want to destroy us is a small price to pay for conservation and learning how to live within ones means.

Read the incongruity of the statement you just made, it's barely legible.

It is still mind boggling how many people wanna completely blame Bush for the WMA's when Democrats and Republicans, and at least 100 other countries believed that that there were WMA's
Actually I am still not convinced there were not any.
There is a huge desert out there that they still could be hiding under, or could have easily crossed into another Islamic state.
But I am sure you are so smart you have a logical excuse for that possibility

Well you can bet the farm that ****** had WMD's - BECAUSE WE SOLD THEM TO HIM.

How Did Iraq Get Its WMD? - We Sold Them To ******

.........reveal that the US, under the successive administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush Snr, sold materials including anthrax, VX nerve gas, West Nile fever germs and botulism to Iraq right up until March 1992, as well as germs similar to tuberculosis and pneumonia.

Classified US Defence Department documents also seen by the Sunday Herald show that Britain sold Iraq the drug pralidoxine, an antidote to nerve gas, in March 1992, after the end of the Gulf war. Pralidoxine can be reverse engineered to create nerve gas.

Those days don't have to be over and for example on the "classic mistake, which of course is your opinion, which of course carries the same weight as mine or Bozo the clown's, they are all opinions based on what you perceive from your experiences in life. How much did it cost in real dollars to get you off the grid and how much is subsidized? If a million people decided tomorrow to do what you've done, how much would it cost them, the taxpayers, etc... and how much fossil fuel would be burned to create their utopias in order to save burning fossil fuels? And in the end, worldwide, we wouldn't see the difference. Regardless, unless China, India and all the other huge polluters don't stop, it'll hardly matter.

How do you think this planet is going to handle another 50 or 100 years of the fossil fuel pollution we are now getting? It's not my opinion it's a fact. I posted several links showing the massive pollution this planet absorbs.

I paid for my off grid system and put it in myself. My electric coop gave out grants and my interitie was free with me also putting it in. Now I am increasing the panels I just bought US made "B" panels (2880 watts) on Ebay sold in the US for under 90 cents a watt before incentives, that's about the cost of a top end big screen TV that my wholesale club sells daily.
The total cost before incentives for my complete set up is around 15k, less than a cheap car. With incentives I save about 5k.

Next I'm making my own wind turbines and also a micro-hydro system for my stream. When I'm done I should be around 15KW.

So because someone else in the world pollutes we should too? I think I have a personal responsibility to pollute as little as possible but you do what you want, I can't change that but the last thing I'm going to say or think is that Randy pollutes becausee China pollutes so I'm going to pollute too.

Every item on the UN list was found in Iraq. And there were hundreds of items. It was all found and they used chemical weapons on our troops. Look it up. Just because the tea bagger on CNN say they didn't find any doesn't make it true, and I wouldn't repeat the media's lie, it makes you sound uniformed and one of duped masses.

Did you actually read the link he posted and you supported?
First it was from 2002 and secondly it uses Ritter as the defining source showing the WMD's were very likely not there.
Iraq had chemical weapons, we knew this, he was gassing the Kurds when Rumsfeld was there! Chemical weapons are not nuclear weapons, we went to Iraq for oil just like we went to Kuwait. If our intentions were to liberate a people we would have gone into Tibet to liberate the Buddhists... we gave China favorite trade status, there was no oil in Tibet!
