Whether I pulled the trigger at the fair would depend on how good a deal was offered. If it is next week then you will soon have your answer.

About removing the fel, I know it would be important to me for it to be easy to do on a subcompact. I wouldn't think of mowing with a fel in place, too cumbersome.
I haven't heard of any problems removing the fel on the new 1026R so curious about this.

the downside with an SSL QA is not so much weight, its that the piviot point moves 3"-4" away from the tractor which does drop your lift capactiy and breakout force.

I'm not a fan of using QA's on small tractors, but I'd work up an SSL QA before any pin-on system. Once you in the pin on stuff, brace yourself because the attachments are stupid expensive.

BINGO...
That is precisely why I did not equip my Stol FC350 with the QA adapter...
My FEL is rated to lift around 1000#...
Move that pivot point up 3-5 inches and that lift capacity is diminished greatly...
I purchased a set of clamp on forks for $160 shipped to the house that has receivers for 2x4's...
I can lift brush and small trees very efficiently with this set up and do not have the added expense of the QA adapter and other attachments...

Tkappeler,

The only reasons to buy the 1026R are: the quick park, quick attach bucket H120 loader, and AutoConnect mowing decks. Since none of the other machines you are looking at have belly mowing decks, I assume that you're not interested in mowing with your tractor. If you are interested in mowing now, you'll have to kick out another $500 for the loader upgrade, and $1600-$2600 for a mower. I still suggest that you look at, test drive, haggle, and buy the T273.

XSkier - No, I am not considering mowing with it anymore. The fact that the 1026 has the mid PTO is a "nice to have" but was not on the list of things I wanted. I am still planning on going to see the TYM before the farm fair I mentioned. I will let you know what I think of it.

One thing that was pointed out to me regarding the CK20 is that there is a single hydraulic pump. Will this make the steering worse when the FEL is under load? Why would they put two pumps in otherwise?

1026R has a single pump too. There is a priority valve that sends 2 gpm to the steering valve and 5 gpm to the PTO, loader, and three point hitch in that order. I've not had any flow limitations while trying to turn and operate the loader at the same time. The steering still gets its flow no matter what you're doing with the loader. A dual pump setup may be better though, I know that's how the T273 is equipped.

I have a JD2520 and like it very much. When I bought mine, the 1's were not out yet and were delayed quite a bit. As a result, JD was offering some substantial incentives on the 2x20 machines and I jumped at it.

From the things that I've read, there have been a couple of small things about the 1's that folks have had issues with, but were able to get them resolved with dealer help. I do know that there is a difference of some sort between the 2011 and 2012 models, and some folks have opted for leftover 2011 units in place of 2012.

One of the nice things about the 1026R is that many of the attachments (be sure to get the JDQA CUT Carrier option for the loader), including buckets and forks, are completely interchangeable with 2xxx and 3xxx machines. While you can certainly opt for the pin-on pieces up front, the JDQA system makes it SO easy to change FEL attachments it isn't funny. I can have my bucket off and my forks on in about a minute.

New here and looking to purchase my first tractor. My needs include lots of FEL work moving fill dirt at new home on flat 3.5 acres, mulch, pallets of stone for landscaping, and possibly finish mowing in the future.

I am trying to compare specs side by side for the Kioti CK20HST, Mahindra Max22 and 2216, TYM 273, Kubota bx2360. My impressions so far of these are:

Kioti - web site hasn't been updated in a long time as they still reference the "new" 2011 lines, so I am not really confident but hear they make a good product.
TYM - read great things here but some really awful things as well.
Kuboto - great product but pricey.
Mahindra - lots of positive feedback sprinkled with strong opinions by owners of OTHER makes.

Should I care about small differences in PTO HP, hydraulic pump capacities within these units or simply concentrate on lift capacities, features such as position control, ergonomics, warranties and dealer strength?

Tom

I'm confused. If loader bucket and fork work is top priority, and not mowing for the forseeable future... Why has mahindra disappeared from your search? In any same size comparison, the mahindra out lifts all competitors by hundreds to even several hundred pounds. Even if I could get the same size john deere or Kubota for same money or less... What good is that if it cannot lift a pallet of stone for u?

I responded earlier with a couple of pics of the mahindra max carrying a 4x2x2 boulder on a set mahindra forks that mount on loader or 3pthitch. A credible weights and measures site would calculate the weight of the boulder to be between 160-180lbs per cubic foot. How many cubic feet are in that boulder? Even if u shave off a few cubic feet for conservative measure and go with the 160lb calculation, that rock is seriously heavy.

The forks themselves are 350lbs... The pic shows my mahindra Max28XL lifting well over a ton on the rear setup...potentially close to a ton and a half.

For what I think u said u want to do, I believe u r doing yourself a disservice by eliminating mahindra from your search.

Clearly, I chose mahindra based on specs. Could I have gotten a cheaper tractor? Yes. Then I could let it sit while I hire someone else to come in and do the heavy work for me...

Madmax12, I understand your points on the lifting capabilities of the Mahindra. We discounted it because 1) When we each sat in it, it was a very uncomfortable reach for the FEL joystick. An even bigger issue is the dealer is in a place in south jersey that is very tough to get to. The closest dealer is a very tough 45 miles away and does not pick up/drop off for free.

Max 22/25... Bad joystick and uncomfortable. Agreed. That's why I went with Max28XL for more comfort...and 50% more capability than Max22/25. Joystick is in good place...on 28. I hear u on 45 miles in jersey. Used to drive there all the time...it blows.

Respectfully, I suggest number of times u will need to take it to dealer after delivery to u... Is potentially Zero. Unless u get a lemon.... That wouldn't knock out the Max28XL, for me. Some on the forum are going with dealers hundreds or thousands of miles away...

Thx for explaining. Good u get a great tractor for the work u need to do. I have little property. If I had more land, for the money, I could have gotten a larger LS tractor. If u have a lot of land, looking at them would be worthwhile to me. LS G3033 was one I wanted... Bit too big for my situation. That would have been stronger and more capable than the Max, but only because it is a different size category. Mahindra reigns in any side by side comparison. Around here, LS reigns in price.

I would not expect to pickup a ton or more on the Mahindra Max 28 and expect the tractor to last. Be careful what you ask of your new tractor, I'd take it a little easier on it. This tractor and fel combination is about 2500lbs IIRC, I wouldn't recommend carrying loads over half of the tractors weight and at a very slow speed at that. A sled or old car hood would be a better way to transport large boulders imo.
