That's very easy to say when it's not your money

But I agree it would be the right thing to do. In a perfect world

If we are waiting for the world to be perfect before we feel like we have to do what's right, then this world is in for a world of hurt.

What's right to do, either is or isn't. Perfect world or not.

The only right way to sell this tractor, is to disclose all of this to the new buyer.

Seems odd that everyone thinks the dealer ought to stand by their sale, but that private party is buyer beware.

It would be more honorable for all TBNers to hold themselves to the same standard they expect from the dealers.

U want the world to be a better place?

It begins with u and me.

Well said, I can't believe what I am reading here about dumping the problem onto somebody else without giving the history.
Not to say the dealer did not mess up but the op screwed up royally and got away scott free and people are suggesting he sell to someone else without disclosure. Wow nice people.:duh:

I never said anything about how, where, to whom, or under what circumstances the sale should be made, honestly that isn't any of my business. I was simply stating if it were mine I wouldn't want to keep it long term. With that said, I always feel it is 'buyer beware' when buying something used. If I buy it used it is 100% my responsibility to check it over well enough to know its general condition, note repairs that have been made, and decide if it is worth the risk.

Understood. Many posts in this thread encouraged the dumping of this tractor on someone else. I was commenting on that general sentiment.

And, sure, if u buy used...check it out. The seller may not even know there are issues.

But, in this case, there is quite the different story.

This thread just provides further justification for my decision to buy new.

Short version? Treat others the way u want to be treated.

If a person was to go to a JD dealer with the model and serial number is/are all the repairs done by any John Deere dealer on record so a buyer might be able to find out before a purchase?

I wouldn't bother with trading the tractor just because the motor was worked on or rebuilt. Use the tractor as you have done in the past and try to get over this.

You know, this is the right answer even though I would want to trade.

I know this happens with warranty repairs, but they also drop out of the system at some point. Not sure if non warranty repairs are recorded. This is for AG tractors, I would think CUTs would be the same.I got the repair history for my 6415 before I bought it from the local JD dealer.
