every time i get tempted to buy one.. then I see others int he 2800-3200kw range and then think.. heck.. if i really need one Ill use th pto gen.

then the idea goes away till i see one again.

if I saw one that didn't use mixed gas i'd pull the trigger

Straight gas would be great. But ... The one hand carry is real nice and the 800W will run 2 refrigerators if you start them sequentially. If mine doesnt smooth out after a full breakin [25hr called for] I will be taking it back. It makes a light knock sound when running ruf that bothers me. No mixture adjustment:mad:

judging by design I'd say the connecting rods and mains are 1 piece.. I've seen air compressor setups like that. some machined better than others.. I DO bet that if you run it and it don't explode in 25hrs.. that it will quiet up.

i had an air compressor that if you ran it over by hand, reed valve open.. you felt a catch.. looking at the innards I was less than impressed.. but got it super cheap and new.

i ran the snot out of it painting a tractor for it's first use. oil turned from golden to grey as she wore in.. drained oil.. hosed sump out.. put in some syn oil.. noticed she turned smooth after that.. now she's good to go.

Its a carburetion problem inducing a mechanical knock in the drive train somewhere. Sounds fine at 2/3+ load but knocks til then.:confused3:

Another painless victory.
I've got one of those $90 HF 800 watt 2 stroke generators, primarily rarely used for camping.

Son had borrowed it, not run it dry. Wouldn't start with fresh fuel mix. Set it aside for a few years. Dosed with Seafoam a few months ago, came around and pulled the cord every once and a while. Fired up today, smoked like it had Seafoam in it, works fine now.

It may just be a mix of snake oil, but it's a mix that works.

/edit - whoops, just looked it up, that generator I paid $90 for is now listed at $180.

I need to get some Sea Foam in my mix so it does not mess up. Had a front tire get so low today when moving buckets full heavy dirt and no AC nearby.

The son ran to the house and got the $99 red Sears 120v air compressor and the 800 Watt HF. We start at zero PSI to lower start up amp requirements. We aired up to 40 PSI without the generator kicking the breaker. With the heat of this summer we used it to power work lights so we when work on equipment in the field while it is cooler.

Sea Foam works for dirty stuff but I prefer to use it for PM.

When purchasing a generator , the price of the wee 800W units is attractive but.....................If you keep looking there are 1500W units for only a few bucks more. Much more flexibility to plug just about anything into it and not worry about overloading.
Seen a wally world ad for a 2000W inverter generator for less than $500.00. An outstanding deal.
Then there are the Champion Honda clones that sell for $100 per KW . They seem to do alright.

I think the best thing going for this HF unit is $100, pack with one hand at gives 800 watts of output. I think it is good for 900 watts for 30 minutes (at least in print) :)

I would trade it for a good Honda 2000 for even money any day however.

Shutting of the fuel and letting it die dry may reduce need for Sea Foam.

This has turned into a HF post on the 800w genny. I too each time i see the $90 coupon i wnat to buy one, then i think, why, what would i need that tiny one for , when i have a 5k generator that will run everything including my 90amp HF welder?

clemsonfor your arm and back is stronger than mine. :)

When on the back forty and have a flat tire or break down and it gets dark light is nice.

True 800 does not = 5000.

We park stuff far from 120 volts. I can charge a battery for 5 hours on a tank if needed.

Ours so far is a keeper due to light weight and not a major hit if stolen.

OH do use Sea Foam since that is the subject of the thread. :)
