Single farm gun recommendations

The Single Six convertable gives you the option of using .22 magnum ammo. That can be real handy if you want to carry it loaded with rat-shot. (the .22mag shot cartridge has almost twice the payload of shot)

I am currently hooked on the revolvers. They are a blast. I have the Rugar Single Six and a Heritage. I use the Heritage the most as it was quite inexpensive and so far its been great.

I don't think you can wear one of those Rugers out. I bought my first, an "Old Model in 1969 then had the safer innards installed when it came out then bought a stainless Ruger Super Single Six Convertible quite a few years ago. My old one works great, but I shoot the new one more to save the bluing on my old gun.

Not lately, but did a few years ago. Mine is the Model 41 and the Colt is my wife's. To give you an idea how old they are, I paid under $150 each brand new and they still look new. I paid about $200 for my Colt Gold Cup Match Target slightly used and $165 for a new Colt Python.:licking:

if you would like you money back on any or all of them.. I would be greatly interested, and I would not knock off any for all the wear and tear you have put on them since.. how bout that! Now can I make a deal or what!

No doubt a .22 is a good starter gun, we have several rifles and handguns in that caliber. We have target pistols S&W Model 41 and Colt Woodsman Match Target as well as a couple of Ruger Single Sixes and a S&W 63.

We don't "collect" guns, we just accumulate them; overflow goes to the kids.

I have a Woodsman I bought off an ex-BIL 15-18 years ago. Paid less then $200...probably about $150.
Neat old pistol, but what a PITA to take down for cleaning! Cherry gun and I even have the original cardboard box and instructions!
Also have a very nice old S&W Model 17 revolver. I don't know the age, but it has the counterbored cylinder, so I'm guessing 1960's. This one is a nice counterpart to my old Marlin 39 lever action...sweet!

I also have an "Old Model" Super Blackhawk with Black Walnut grips I made for it; use to deer hunt with it. Then there is the Model 29 in presentation case...:licking:

They are neat old guns, we bought a Huntsman first then my wife saw the Woodsman Match Target and the Huntsman was history.

We have similar tastes, I gave my old counter bored Model 17 to my son several years ago, smooth as glass and very accurate. I had put a set of grips I had finished to fit my hand on it, but in a moment of weakness many years ago sold it to a friend. He kept it for a few years and got tired of me trying to buy it back and traded it to me for a shotgun; now he brings is wishing he kept it. I looked at some newer models and didn't care for them. I have a Marlin 39A Golden Mountie Carbine my brother bought for me in 1962.:thumbsup:

I'm sure that he's a great shot, but I think Missouri to Louisiana is far enough to be "out of range."
