Wow. I don't think I could burn through $150 of diesel in a day if I tried and we have the same engine just tuned differently.

I average 1.4 gallons per hour under an average load. At $4 per gallon, thats $60 in a ten hour day. Obviously more when pulling my 12' harrow in mfwd, but normal rotary mowing it's 1.4 gph. I'm not sure how that compares to other machines, but I always thought it was pretty impressive.

According to tractor data, the 5093E consumes 4.9 gallons per hour @ $4 per gallon wouldn't take but eight hours to burn that much. If your getting by with a similar size tractor for 1.4 gallons per hour you are doing great.

ok did not know about the 5003 series. thought they were 2wd only. looks like predecessor for the new 5005 E series. made in india. so how much fuel do you burn with that souped up 3 cyl 179 cu in engine under which conditions? specs are impressive., i need to plow dirt.

Not sure I can give you anything more accurate than the 3.6 gallons per hour stated on tractor data site. The consumption on my 5303 compared to either my previous 5105 or a 5205 is noticeable. If all I did was mow with a 6' cutter I would say I made a foolish move, but since this is a multi purpose tractor I have no regrets over the increase in fuel consumption. I recommend visiting the tractordata.com website for comparing fuel consumption. I would think they use consistent testing so you see "apples to apples".

That's at full loaded PTO rpm. I have never started my tractor at 6:00 am, throttled up to full power and left it there for eight hours. During my real world use of both driving and using the PTO at varying speeds, I calculated 1.4 gph several times and mine is the 5101 which is the same engine tuned to 101 hp versus his 93 hp.

5x03 are nice tractors but they are no comparison to the 5x25.

I have no idea how you are burning so little fuel! With my 3m MoCo running 12kph I burn about 18l/hr at $1.40/l that is about $25 per hour in fuel alone. I usually go through 10-14l/hr doing very light work (paddock topping, loader work etc)

this makes me want to keep my big mahindra only for the bigger jobs and go even smaller than my 4120 like a 4005. keep the bigger tractor only for big work keep the smaller tractors for medium duty and lighter work 6 ft attachments and 18 inch harrows versus 20 inch harrows as i intended and in the process to pursue.

mahindra burns about 2 gallons under wide open 7 shank heavy duty chisel plow conditions. otherwise it purrs at between 1 and 2 gallons and it is 65 hp with a 215 cu in engine.

Sounds very fuel efficient and your previous post sounds wise to me. Based on my experience so far, if I kept my current tractor and purchased a second I would likely go smaller since I can handle all expected big tasks with the current tractor.

$150 a day is quite a bit of fuel for a 5093. Like around 38-40 gallons. In an 8 hour run time thats 4.5-5 gallons per hour or one gallon + every 15 minutes. Even in a 12 hour day thats over 3 gallons per hour. You would have to load that engine very hard for a long time to burn that much fuel. I'm not saying it's not possible but, it would be tough.
