Almost 7 gallons....that's about right.

Remove and change the HST filter in the middle, and mark it for the hours and
date. Pull the low-pressure return pipe and remove/clean the implement pump
inlet filter screen. Most fluid comes out here, but there is a magnetic drain plug in the
right rear of the gearbox/sump.

Use any J20C-compliant fluid....you do not have to buy HyGaard from Deere.

Have fun, and stay greasy.

What does your manual call for? I have a 3520 ehydro and my manual specifies either regular Hyguard or the Low-Vis Hygard. The low-vis is significantly more expensive than the standard, and is rated for lower operating temps. In my case: I am much more likely to operate in temps above the low-vis ratings than I am to operate in temps below the rating of the standard Hyguard. I do use the low-vis in my X740 because that is the only thing recommended in the manual.

I do pay the little extra to use the JD brand maintenance products (oils, coolant, grease, filters, etc.), instead of taking a chance on an equivalent product, but that is just me. I know many people do use the equivalent products and report no problems, I just prefer to pay a little extra for peace of mind and also convenience (my dealer is five minutes away and always seems to have what I need in stock - he is closer than any source for the equivalent products).

It is the big (1.75") steel pipe that runs down the center, underneath the middle of your
tractor.

I use several name brands of J20c-(and Kubota UDT-) compliant fluid, incl Chevron
1000 THF, Conoco76 THF, and ServicePro THF. All look/smell the same.

The implement pump screen has some hard gunk between the fine screen and the course screen. Guess I will replace that, unless anyone has ideas how to fix that?

I am not sure what you mean. Photo?

I clean the screen with a solvent first (carb cleaner or gasoline), then detergent
and water, then blow off with compressed air. The screens are not cheap.

You will likely see some finer dirt on the screen, from the wet PTO clutch/brake,
and the wheel brakes.

well, there is an outer, fine mesh screen wrapped around a larger, heavier duty inner screen. the outer screen is glued to the assembly it looks like. however, there is crud that has worked its way between the 2 screens, and i cant seem to get it out. i've gotten some out, but not all of it. it is the same hard flaky stuff that was on the outside of it.

not sure the fluid was ever changed by the previous owner...dont know. it has 680 hours on it.

i see there are 2 hydraulic filters too? according to the manual that is. OMLVU13193_H2

i assume i should change both? and also the rockshaft filter, while i'm at it? 3 pt attachments started dropping and then quickly go back up with a small whine/noise.
