I took some additional pics since getting the tractor all cleaned for the dealer coming to see it this morning. I wanted to make sure he knew this was "my baby" and that I wanted everything even a little damaged replaced. ;)

Here's a closeup of one of the two sections of the ROPS that absorbed most of the impact. If you look closely, you can see that there is a crack right in the corner.

And this is a little further down along the pillar, which is the 2nd major impact zone:

The hydraulic line that got pushed in a little:

The hole that was punched in the fender:

A shot showing the entire area. It's hard to tell from the picture, but that lower bar got a twist to it, putting a lot of pressure on that bottom glass pane.

Once you step back a few feet, the damage becomes hard to notice:

And here's what I salvaged from the glass pane. I think just about all of these pieces can be transferred to the new panel except for the weatherstrip piece. It would be a pain to clean all the glass shards out of it.

Just for grins, here are some closeups of the GN that caused the damage. Top of post that shattered the window:

Bottom of GN post that got wedged into the 3pt hitch lift cylinder:

And finally the section responsible for slicing the hole in the fender:

A little black paint will fix up the GN trailer no problem. Turns out the drop-leg did not get bent at all after all and their appears to be no structural damage to the trailer at all.

Thanks for the additional pictures, they show damage the first ones did not. $500 deductable will be well spent.

Wow, I didn't realize just how "bare bone" the cab frame really is.

cabframe.jpg

It truly is just a frame. The part number for item 2 is RE261875. I was trying to get an idea of cost, but Google doesn't return anything meaningful. That's going to take a lot of labor! I think 3 days is cutting it close. I hope the guy they put on this has experience swapping cabs. Hopefully it won't be the guy that did the hydraulic lines for my loader.

The service manager from the dealer just stopped by and looked at the damage. He is going to recommend that the entire cab be replaced since it is part of the ROPS structure and it got nicked pretty bad in a couple of places. They will also replace the following:

Fender
Hydraulic line feeding the rear SCVs (it got nicked)
2 hydraulic couplers
2 hydraulic oil collection cups
Interior trim panels (they got nicked by the glass pieces)

In short, they are going to restore it back to showroom condition. He estimated it would take them 3 days in the shop to replace the cab. All the removable pieces from the existing cab will be moved over to the new one (doors, windshield, etc). He said it would hurt resale real bad if ROPS repair were evident.

He also said I was real lucky that nothing happened to me. They had a similar instance a few years ago where the operator was severely injured.

I'm going to be much more careful going forward, that's for sure!

Good to hear things are going to work out for you and that you escaped this mishap with no injuries but added knowledge. Good luck and hopefully they will have the tractor back together in short order so you can get back to using it.

I have done things like this too and the only solution is to 100% fix or replace everything involved and then just write the check for whatever it is. After that, we shall speak of this no more. That's the only solution that works for me, and believe me, I've done some real memorable things. .

You need to register at JDparts.com then you can look up and price parts. I come up with $2732.17 Your dealer may have a different price.

Wow pclausen, that's tough to see! Glad your okay. I think the best thing would be just to have it replaced for sure. I know your like me and even though you could fool a lot of people and they wouldn't notice any damage, it would drive me bananas. Get it fixed right.

You could send it up here and I'll be glad to fix it, but I might talk a little more than 3 days and there might be a couple more hours on it when it gets back to you :dance1:
