I'm in the middle of a build, and would really like to save a few inches in the room by using 2 x 3's - but I'd need 10 footers - anyone ever seen 2 x 3 x 10'?

No, for interior walls 10' 2x3 IMO would twist and warp too much. But if you are doing a basement 2x's on the walls flat will work fine secured to the wall saving space.
Its an inch.. so depending on your specific application you could rip down 2x4x10's for a non load bearing wall or better just rip 2x6x10 in half would be better use of $$ and time.

Rip fence on the table saw or circular saw is the only way I have seen that size. One would hope this is not structural.

Are we talking about studs? Are they structural? Are we talking about 2 additional inches in any dimension?
I don't think it's worth the trouble or expense. What would you use for the bottom and top plates?

I'm sure you could get something like that milled out at a lumber yard but I would think it would result in a bit of a spongy wall.
If that space savings is important another thought would be to frame your wall with the 2x4's on edge.
Actually the only 2x3's I've ever seen were ones I sawed myself.
I'm still thinkin' a 10' 2x3 wall is going to be less than structually satisfying.

I haven't seen them at a lumber yard. Three things come to mind as to what you could do:
1st You could just buy 10' 2X4's and cut to the size needed.
2nd If there is a lumber mill close to you you should be able to order a custom cut from them.
3rd Have you done the math? By that I mean how much square footage are you going to gain? For txample, if the shed is 10X10 you would gain less than 1. sq ft using a 2X3 instead of a 2x4.
To me, that gain is not worth the extra work or expense to achieve, however, that is only my opinion.

2X3 studs are common anywhere commercial work is common. They equal in thickness a 2 1/2" metal stud. In the Seattle area, one can go to Dunn's in Bellevue, and they will even have fire-treated 2X3 wood studs. Go forty miles north to Arlington to ask for 2X3's, and they'll look at you like you just landed in a space ship.
Go ask your lumberyard, they should be able to order them with ease. Alternately, you could consider using 2 1/2" X 24 gauge metal studs for your partition walls. In any case, I would recommend 5/8" GWB used in any construction of thinner walls, for increase rigidity.

I don't think you could put wiring in the walls. You need 1 1/4 inches clearance on each side of the wire. It might be too tight.

I have thought of the same thing before but I was thinking of dividing a 2X4 but I don't believe I would do it. A 2X4 is actually 1 and1/2 by 3 and1/2 so you would only be giving up 1/2 inch on each wall and if it was a dividing wall that would reduce it even further. Is a 1/2 inch really that important? If it is then why not turn the 2by4 sideways and that way you would be increasing the size by 2 inches if I am thinking right. Are you intending to insulate that wall? If so are you going to use sterafoam? I was thinking of doing that in my basement and putting chipboard over it and then if I felt I wanted a more finished look I would go from there.
