10' 2 x 3 lumber?

   / 10' 2 x 3 lumber? #11
I'm in the middle of a build, and would really like to save a few inches in the room by using 2 x 3's - but I'd need 10 footers - anyone ever seen 2 x 3 x 10'?

Thanks.

That doesn't seem like enough information to understand what you are doing. But if you put two 2 X 4s flat against each other (actual dimensions of each stud is 1 1/2 X 3 1/2) you'd have 3 inches. So you'd have an actual measurement of 3" X 3 1/2 Inches, and good stability.

Dimensional lumber is not really 2 inches. It's 1 1/2 X 3 1/2, or 1 1/2 X 5 1/2, etc.

A 2 X 4 wall offers the minimum strength in the best of conditions and a ten foot wall would be very weak.

Without knowing what you are doing, I agree with others and just go with 2x4's. I used 2x3'x in my basement, but those were 8' length. I havent seen them longer than that. And the cost difference between 2x3 and 2x4 is minimal.

2 1/2" metal studs are commonly used in walls up to 12' high. May have to go go 20 gauge studs
