------------------This was my only option at the time. You do have a good point with the frost. I guess if I see the rock poking out again I will just have to dig another "deep hole" and cover it again. In 20 to 30 years my kids can worry about it....lol I will have make sure I give them the tractor in my will.
Many thousand years ago the glacers moved those rocks to his part of WI. My part of WI has the lakes and iron ore rocks. The water that comes from that kind of well here can be too hard to chew let alone drink. Like you said, I don't think frost will have it back to the top in your lifetime.
Biggest rock I find in my yard is about basket ball size. Problem is I can only find them with the mower blades, and the sparks REALLY can fly........... OUCH........
