A simple reprogram of the computer, especially on these newer trucks, can really free up some power. I have witnessed 20-30 hp gains just from a reprogram/chip.

Sorry I haven't posted back in forever, I haven't had any free time at all. When I first started reading the responses I was a little mad cause most of y'all were tellin me I messed up not getting the duramax. Well I know that. I want the duramax but I don't have the duramax. But y'all did get me thinkin and now my question is would it be beneficial to me to so called cut my losses and get the duramax rather than keep the 6.0? My situation is that I DO NOT tow or haul hardly ever, but I do have to travel a lot (2,000 miles/mo) so should I get the duramax for the high mileage ill be putting on it or is the 6.0 fine? Thanks for the help everyone! And thanks for all the responses

With that kind of travel, go with the Duramax! Driving a 6.0 is what about 12-14 mpg? on my Duramax with a tuner and few mods I spent under 5k, crank out 660 rwh, 893lbs torque. I currently get 24 mpg on the highway and about 21 city. and if you take care of the truck you will easily get 400k miles out of it.

The LBZ is still the most sought after Duramax. You are lucky. Would love one, but with my luck, it would cost me, because I would also get one that was rode hard and put away wet.

Yes, I also had a 2002 LB7 which was a great truck and had little over 350k miles, but a tree fell on it and totaled it. I found my Lbz on side of the road for sale, had 40k miles, no rust, crew cab short bed LT, and never driven in winter. I still feel as I stole it, $17,000. Lady wanted it gone, And said I was first person to offer full price. Local dealer offered her 15k for it.

i think he wants to go with a new one like his truck he has now. Problem is that he will have cost him simself at least 5k on trade in. And at this point, if he did that he could have put that 5k into the duramax from the get go. OP, thats a tough decision that will only effect your well being. So if you can afford it and not lose any sleep over it, go for it. Just strike it off as a lesson learned.
Another note, that truck you have is indeed a very nice looking truck regardless
