We had a very mild winter and little snow last year in Michigan and only used my JD4410 once and that was probably not necessary. Snow melted in the next few days. My question is that I have old fuel that is at least 12 months old in my tractor. I use the usual fuel additives that many use and recommend. Looks like I have only had about 6 hours of use in over a year. Should I change the fuel? Just drain the water skimmer? Starts and runs good. What would you do? ---Fuseboxer :confused3:

me? I'd drain water out and see if she ran. if so.. treat again and add some fresh and go.

if she don't like it.

change filter. drain fuel and save.. and refill with good fuel.. bleed, and use the old fuel as top off after straining it for solids.

check tank and tap for biologicals..

I'd just go ahead using it.

For once I agree with LBrown, just go ahead and use it. Keep an eye on the water separator but if it looks good go for it.

Only thing that affects diesel are contaminants such as dirt or water. Water contributes to algae growth. I agree just check water separator and use the fuel.

That's all you need to do with diesel.

Just order some PRI-G (gas) and PRI-D (diesel) fuel stabilizers that will keep fuel/gas fresh for 10+ years. I researched and found it and purchased on Amazon.
