I don't know how much control the admins have over what ads are presented here, but I saw an ad for a "Free Energy" device the other day. Put simply, free energy devices violate the laws of physics. Anyone selling a free energy device is running a con. Anybody buying a free energy device is a mark. Therefore, what the ad amounts to is TBN helping scammers take the money of marks. My first thought when I saw the ad was that TBN really ought to be better than that.

Where was the ad at on TBN? The reason I ask is because a lot of ads that appear on websites are based on a users browser history.

I believe that the ad appeared in-line in a thread, as a comment. I was on my cell phone at the time, so I wasn't logged in, which may explain why I've never seen an ad in that location before. I can't think of anything in my browsing history that would suggest such an ad. Regardless of the reason it appeared, I want to point it out to the admins at TBN. Some people I know are members of ad networks on their blogs, and they have some ability to reject ads that they feel are inappropriate for their users or inconsistent with their blog's theme. If the admins at TBN agree with my opinion and have such an ability, they might want to block ads for "free energy" devices.

If you have ever entered a search for energy, electricity, home insulation.... pretty much anything that could insinuate saving energy, ads like that will pop up in your browser with nothing to do with TBN.

I have a wife and daughters.... I get ads for women's underwear, clothing, hair care products, etc... while viewing TBN because they search for them more than I search for tractor stuff.

They are between posts if you are not logged in. I saw that one also. Here is this thread when I logged out.

You could use Google Chrome and AdBlock, works great.

Hi

Forum Admins do have say over what ads get presented. As far as I know, admins of forums usually they allow an outside company through the
hosting provider to insert ads. The outside company will place ads generally inline with what the forum is or what its users would buy. Sometimes tough an ad will be inappropriate for the forum. The Admins just need to let the company that provides the ads know that a particular ad is not wanted. Next time you see it note the company and the time and let the admins know. Free energy devices are a scam.

I don't know... Isn't solar or wind power "free energy"? Not that I disagree with the concept that many of these ads tell less than the whole truth - but can't that be said of many advertisements?

In this context, "free energy" is a euphemism for energy-generating devices that are claimed to put out more energy than they take in, in violation of the laws of thermodynamics. Solar and wind may be "free" in some sense of the word, but thermodynamically, they are not.
