interesting doing, placed a couple dozer drivers in the seat with direct view, driving backwards. and giving these 2 people a high up vantage point to actually see things and adjust things as needed. vs a spotter on the ground.
dozer tracks never really ever had a chance. they were the dead pull. to barely keep the tree moving. slow down to much, and tree runs over the dozer and you loose momentum, speed up and you just slip the tracks in the mud. no real way for the drivers of the dozers to even have a chance to get speed set just right, with constant excavators changing amount of force being applied to the dozers.
about all the excavators could do, was try and keep a half way even pace, between turning tracks and operating the bucket to help pull them along. and try there best to keep from bucking bronco themselves and more so the dozer drivers. actually felt a little sorry for one guy in dozer in video. looks like he nailed the ceiling in the cab of the dozer in one place of the video.
*rubs chin* it would be interesting to see actual traction control setup. in the larger machines. that allowed multi machines to be hooked together. through a wireless connection. so traction could be applied better across multi machines. other words, pulling other machines out that are stuck in the mud. to just using an extra machine to help do what ever. vs relying on seat of the pants driver experience and how good there team work is. i doubt there is a crew use to doing this everyday, exception for a given project, that only last so many days or weeks and it is over. and most likely not long enough for a team to fully get together and get things moving good. and clicking between all the team members.
