Without a historical basis and data to work from, Freudian projection is exactly what those police officers would be employing. Unless they knew, from prior experience of the exact people in that area, those people had motive to riot, they would be basing their prediction on their own desires and their own methods of decision making, if they lived in that area.

You make the assumption of credentials equaling logical reasoning. There can be no such assumption, as every person is different and a matching title does not make them matching personalities.

Personally the anger in this thread shows exactly why your better off isolated from those you don't know really well in a emergency,many on this thread want to argue for the sake of arguing , as many in a nation wide emergency would allow there deepest animal instinct rule there conscience ,we can't have a conversation without fighting heaven forbid if those same people confronted each other in a survival situation, just my observation.

Everyone's need is different and I doubt that very many people could possibly be prepared for every possible situation.

There is always something forgotten or left out.

In my case I don't worry too much about other people. 5 / 6 Foot chain link fence topped with barb wire. Would that trully keep some one out, No. But before you get to my place there are dozens of places with no fence and most people with a fence don't even close their gates. My neighbors that I don't much care for are convinced that my dogs a vicious & that I always carry a gun. Makes no difference if they are right or wrong, as long as they believe it.

My big worry is how much beer & dog food to stock up on. :laughing: Once that is solved I can move on the silly things like food & water. :dance1::laughing:

Some of us want to live further out for a number of reasons, Privacy and trying to be more self sufficient is my reason ,Yours maybe totally different You maybe want close neighbors and want to include them in your plans .I personally do not ! But to sit and try to tell me how I would act based on your armchair assessment thru a open forum is just crazy! If you have never been in an extreme storm and saw the looting ,theft and lack of any sense of self survival that happens within hours you really could not imagine "society" could fall apart so fast ! The problems start when you have more dependents than providers and resources . the self entitled would demand more resources than can be provided and that leads to a breakdown of the "all included system "

I never made an armchair asseent of you, I never mentioned any names just a observation. If you felt I mentioned anyone in particular you obviously associated yourself in the conversation, I basically agree with you in the fact your better off secluded, I don't consider myself a thief but under starvation I would steal a loaf of bread if I could,circumstances make people do strange things they normally wouldn't do.

don't forget manual hand tools -post hole diggers ,hammers, nails,ax, saw , splitting maul ,machete ,shovels ,rakes ,hoes,rope, chain .your not going to be firing up the gas logsplitter when your running low on fuel for the generator also 12 volt power inverter

See Jesse.....Your statement quoted above is your admission that you would steal my bread....and I suspected you would and will take steps to prevent you from stealing my bread....Now you can call this projection or any other Freudian term you desire...I call it self preservation....You will do it at all costs and I recognize that ...and will guard against it...so you need to take bread from someone else or figure out a way to make your own...
