5. Quit interior

Any can do that. Get out and drive them all including that Eco Boost.

The challenge with fuel economy is how often you tow. If you have a small trailer and pull a zero turn or light machinery just locally, you might even get by with a V6 if fuel mileage is more of a priority. But I think most of us would either want
a small V8 or the Ecoboost to get the torque needed. And remember, fuel mileage is relative. I got 16 with my V6 Nissan Frontier, the Ecoboost gets 15-16 from what I've read, and my guzzler Suburban with a 6.0 gets 12.
I think 20mpg trucks are coming but if you want to tow, I don't think they are here yet. The Ecoboost is probably the best compromise now but I think real world gas mileage is lower than the ads. But if you want to pull one of your tractors around, you need a whole lot more than 5K towing with implements attached and trailer weight, plus giving you some capacity left for safety.

F150 with 3.7 v6 better mpg than ecoboost. Still makes decent power but a lot higher rpm's. Just a option. I think any full size will meet your towing requirement. It just A truck about like a haircut don't sweat it you gonna need another one sooner or later.

I am getting a little tired about the exaggeration that Ford did not take or push for bailout money. They just asked for their 5.9 billion in January 2009 under other auspices. They all needed it, they all make pretty good trucks. I have had three Dodges in 20 years and I love them. Even the present 2008 Dodge 1500 Hemi has engine that drops down to four cylinders like GM has now too.
So test drive them all and maybe pick the best dealer customer service.

I have heard that the Eco boosts get horrible efficency when towing a good load. If the engine is so good why isn't it a option on their F250. For a comuter truck it might be good but working it is a different story. I stay away from Toyotas.

IMHO / experience. 1st for me would be the F-150, even our new v-8 are averaging 16-17. We have 6 of them so it is not just a 1 off. Our older f-150's are in the 14-15 average like the 08 crew cab that I drive. The next would be the Toyotas Average mileage is a little less than the f-150 but all the owners [my customers] that I talk to love them. Very good build quality, I have been impressed with the ones I have drove. The Dodge would be next, nice truck but I can't give you any real world fuel mileage ##. The GM has been just a bit better than the Fords in fuel mileage, but the interiors are junk, wind noise, stuff falling apart and some of my major customers getting stiffed by them takes them off my list. I will not pay twice for a truck. CJ

With Ford offering the bigger v-8's and the diesel in the F-250's it is not really needed but I would look real hard at one if it was. I don't tow above 14000 any more so really don't need a bigger engine. Most report 11-13 towing with the eco boost. I would be really happy with that. That is about 2-3 better than my 5.4 towing.
