Nail sizes and laser level recommendation

I have a Topcon RL-H3C red laser.
Bought it back in 2002 and have used it alot.
I have seen them on EBAY at very resonable prices.
It is self leveling and you can perform a cailbration yourself with instructions included or online from Topcon.
Self leveling is very important, manual leveling takes all the accuracy and throws it out the window.
Mine even shuts down from vibration or bumping it.
Requires it be turned back on and check your starting point.
It also has manual slope capability for road work and drain field work...
I have used it for siding, cabinet work, trim work, cement footings and forms, pool installation, decks, fencing, wallpapering, landscape work.....
you will enjoy owning one

I made a quick adjustment elevation adapter for my tri-pod.
It is nice for trim work and cabinets when you don't want to use a story pole and just the detector for layout.
bolts on to the tri-pod and bolt laser to the top aluminum plate.

Big Dooley, thanks for info. I see that your tripod is CST but I can't see clear the plate head where the laser is attaching and I'm looking to buy one the same plus also a RL-H4C model. Can you confirm that your RL-H3C model can be mounted directly on the tripod without any adapter or I need one? The picture and description on amazon doesn't say anything.
Thx.

My RL-H3C requires no adapter to the CST stand.
I believe the tripod thread is 5/8-11.
Here are some pics.
Just looked up the RL-H4C.
They have made some nice improvements over the years.
You should be very happy with that choice.

I was at Harbor Freight yesterday and saw a motorized, self-leveling, rotating level good for 100' , with tripod on sale for $54.00. Some stuff at HF works well for the part-time handyman and some stuff doesn't. For the price it might be worth a try. Accuracy was 1/4" over 33'. Good Luck.

In this world we live in, will we ever hear "Oh my, I must investigate utilizing the Internet search engine developed by the very smart computer software engineers at Google, Inc., or, conversely, don't you really think "Google" has already become a verb? A rather picayune comment.

If you have a fancy unit that self levels or can be locked on a grade for road building and loan it to someone, you need to explain the difference. We had a guy borrow ours to place some fill for a large concrete job. He spent the better part of a day on a Bobcat and he is the most efficient skid steer hand i have ever seen BTW. When we showed up to shoot the bull we said it looks tilted. He said I've thought that all day but but it shows level. After we all scaratched our heads and figured out the problem, i saw a Stanley 30 foot tape fly further than if it were shot out of a cannon and land in the dang lake. lol not funny but it was.

I have a DeWalt self leveling roatary. It isn't the best available but it is better then the cheap ones Home Depot has that never shoot the same "level" line twice. Normally we do like Eddie and just use a good level for all our jobs but we were working in a large office building with a ton of suspended ceilings. A laser just made sense. It paid for itself on that job just in time saved, find your height, set the laser to that height and your good to go. Used it for all the wall angle and main runners.

Years ago when we had our pond done our friend had a similar DeWalt and it did good. I intend to try using mine for ground work when needed as it is good out to 600 feet if I remember correctly.
