Yep, class 3 firearms are available for those with the money to afford them.
It costs about $200 for the paperwork to purchase the firearm.
No "permits" required...just the tax stamop documentation.

Yep, my old neighbor has an M60. He paid $2000 for it and now it's worth three times that if not more. He is a truck driver who enjoys shooting it. My nephew goes to the Knob Creek Machine Gun shoot over in KY every year.

Not quite. I can easily see an armed society as an evil and threat to all...

IMO it's your misguided vision that is faulty/limited not the 2nd amendment...!

I looked into a Class 3 (Vector Arms had a couple hundred registered UZI receivers and the built up guns were being sold for $3500). I guess I didn't want one bad enough.
If I had bought two of 'em, I'd have gotten a free UZI since the price doubled as soon as they ran out of receivers...buy 2, sell one and get a "free UZI".
Oh well, 100% hindsight...

Story of my life too. I couldn't afford to feed a full auto though, I have enough trouble as it is. I hate reloading, but it looks like I am going to have to start back again.

Here is how Canada classifies guns. Taken from Gun politics in Canada - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

How many would you have to dispose of up here?

Classification of firearms

According to licences, firearms are classified into prohibited, restricted and non-restricted categories, as defined by Part III of Criminal Code (R.S., 1985, c. C-46)[28] Note: The word "prohibited" is a classification and does not indicate that such firearms are "prohibited" as per the normal use of the word.

Prohibited firearms include:

that are designed to discharge .25 or .32 calibre ammunition;
exceptions are stated in the Regulations Prescribing Exclusions from Certain Definitions of the Criminal Code International Sporting Competition Handguns[29]

Rifles and shotguns that have been altered by sawing, cutting or any other means, so that:

the barrel length is inferior to 457 millimetres (18.0 in) (regardless of overall length), or;

IMO it's your misguided vision that is faulty/limited not the 2nd amendment...!

It's not my vision, it is your failure to educate yourself on the 2nd Amendment: ruling of the Supreme Court in a 2nd. Amendment case:
District of Columbia v. Heller - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(2) Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose: For example, concealed weapons prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment or state analogues. The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms. Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons.

My vision is for a society that understands when it is harming itself and takes action to reduce that harm. How in God's name did we reach a point where we seriously consider armed guards at every school house? What is next, every grocery store, every fair grounds, every sports event, every bus and train? Explain the benefits of this madness to me.

What is your vision? Tell me what your perfect world looks like.

Here you go Roy. I guess you moved to Vermont/White River Junction area? Sort of lost track. This is probably about a 2 1/2 hour drive.

There's a huge market for varmint hunting with that round. Coyotes come to mind.

for things bigger than the .22 and smaller than your deer rifle? Agreed.

But you do NOT need to unload a 30 clip mag on full auto into a coyote, unless you are really ticked off at him.
