Outrage after NY paper publishes names of gun permit holders

I was thinking they used the Federal Handgun Permits forms that everyone has to fill out to get the names and locations of legal gun buyers they are the form the you fill out and then wait for 2 weeks until you can pick up the guns.

If I was a neighbor of these idiots I would up up a 4x8 sheet sign that stated "My idiot Neighbor in the big house is a Gun Hater, he has lots of toys and money. I promise I will not defend his home using my guns nor will I interfere in anyway to stop his NON GUN OWNER RIGHTS."

Islandtractor it is a "slippery slope" to keep any freedom of the press then it is just as slippery slope to stop ANY GUN OWNERS RIGHTS! The gun ban did not work nor will they, the 2nd amendment is there so "WE THE PEOPLE" can defend ourselves from ALL DANGERS weather they come form a foreign government a crook or our own government. As such we are entitled to have the same weaponry that could be used against us. The US Government has already turned guns on it's innocent people in many cases killing a good number. Think Kent State, Think David Koresh Waco TX (28kids died there with 54 adults) or Gordon Kahl in SD... there is a long list of people that gets out on the wrong side of the law, iven if the do/don't deserve to be there. Government will eventually TRY to take all guns out of the hands of the civilians someday. I'll be long gone by then and when it happens I only hope there are enough real men left to stand up to the politicians and left wing nut jobs. I also know that cops can and DO go after people just because they think they can/have the power to do so. There are lots of killings that happen during burglaries & out here cops cant get there for 30 or 40 min is common so thinking they are there to help not going to happen. They are there to file reports for insurance and to write traffic tickets is all.

I'll keep my GUNS safe by keeping them where I know they are and having one close to make sure the rest stay put...

Here you go Roy. I guess you moved to Vermont/White River Junction area? Sort of lost track. This is probably about a 2 1/2 hour drive.

I've shot selective fire rifles when I was in the Navy...yep, neat...sort of like crack cocaine for the firearms enthusiast.
However, I couldn't afford to feed the rifle and, frankly, although shooting one of these guns is fun, I have little desire to own one.
I reckon I will have another AR-15 or two before it's all said and done.

I agree as well...and make sure your elected reps (House and Senate) know your thoughts!!
I've seen no discussion of banning the violent video games or movies that teach kids to do this crazy stuff. I've seen no moves to ban the medications that have adverse side effects (thoughts of suicide).

Yeah, it would be a spendy hobby.
They used to hold the annual Hiram Maxim Machine Gun Festival (he was born in Maine) but not anymore, I guess from liability worries. Anyways, they shredded all sorts of objects with all sorts and ages of machine guns, and you could rent a gun to fire! A guy I worked with went once and said it was a literal blast.

No, there are no perfect worlds, but there are best efforts.

You are telling me what you believe is wrong with others, not your vision of a perfect world. I am still waiting to hear your vision and an explanation of its benefits.

That's a pretty broad brush you are using. I think we have to stop blaming someone else and work harder ourselves to live in a manner that sets a good example for those subsequent generations.
We can't live other's lives and most of us would not want to, our own is plenty full. So we have to tolerate many different lifestyles in this "civilization" that we now enjoy, particularly if we value personal freedom.
This world is changing rapidly. I'm now in my sixties and really think the pace of change is increasing. I'm hoping the best is yet to come. Hope springs eternal. For many though, common sense says to stay locked and loaded, until all social predators, human and otherwise, are rendered harmless.

While also making sure our government is not the biggest predator of all in restricting our freedoms. Plenty examples of that around the world. Live free or die is not just confined to New England...

But you do NOT need to unload a 30 clip mag on full auto into a coyote, unless you are really ticked off at him.

Two problems with that statement:
1. Very few full auto guns available and you have to jump through all kinds of hoops to get one. 99.9999% of the "assault weapons" out there are semi-auto, not full auto
2. What if you are going after a pack of 10 coyotes? 3 shots each with them running around wouldn't be out of the realm of possbility would it?

Several days ago in another thread, I did discuss the effects of gratuitous and misrepresented violence in video games, movies and TV. I was criticized for attacking the 1st Amend. by TCJatco and others. That thread was relocated to Friendly Politics, but to my knowledge, after I pointed out that 1st Amend. rights are not unlimited either, ie, there are ugly things I could put in a movie or game that would not be allowed in the public access domain, there was silence.

Many people don't want to discuss, they want to rant mindlessly it seems. Not referring to you, Roy.
