How can we say it worked? There are NO stats from before the gun ban...
If there were 5 shootings before the ban an now they have 3 does it really mean it is a success?

There have been zero mass shootings after the ban. And a total of about thirty gun homicides per year in a country of over twenty million people. They are doing something right. Me thinks strict gun control is likely part of it. Same in the UK, New Zealand, Germany etc etc.

Problem I see with adding more restrictions is good law abiding people loose freedom and crooks loose nothing and arguably gain mobility. We could live in dictatorship like places in Europe etc but we dont. So it isn't as much change as here where there is nearly as many guns as people legally owned lets not forget that fact.

What dictatorships are you referring to in Europe?

The Second Amendment argument regarding a "well regulated militia" is NRA baloney. We have a well regulated militia called the National Guard. The idea that unorganized citizens are going to stop tyranny is absurd and certainly has never been needed as our government has been solidly democratic for three hundred years with no need for an extra poorly regulated NRA militia. Besides, have any of you ever checked the wording of the Second Amendment to see who is the designated commander in chief of the "well regulated militia"?

Same here...the Australian solution is unacceptable.

What happens when the laws no longer ensure our Freedoms? Do we follow them or do we act on the very reason the right to bear arms was put into the constitution the way it was? Which is to say to revolt against a controlling government that seeks to take away our rights and to re-write the constitution. Seems pretty drastic huh? And yet that is exactly why our founding fathers put the right to bear arms in the constitution as the 2nd Amendment.

It goes beyond the right of the "A well regulated Militia...". That is only 1/2 of the amendment. The other half which anti-gunners conveniently forget is the individual right to bear arms; "...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". There are two distinctly separate aspects to the 2nd Amendment.

We are the people, therefore we have the right to keep and bear arms, and this shall not be infringed!

They were reasonably concerned at the time that the English would try to reestablish control and as there was no standing national army to speak of it was prudent to insure a militia on the model of minuteman militias should remain armed. Three hundred years of experience says we are no longer worried about King George.

Gun ownership is not the issue, it is whether modern rapid fire weapons should be freely available as they are today.

I think you are sadly mistaken. Today's criminal has grown up exclusively in the Internet era. The Internet is their favorite planning tool. From Google earth images, forums, 411 services etc.

When you can get the away from the criminals fully and without any end then and only then should you take away the honest mans guns.....
