I have the exact setup on two Kubotas that look exactly like that and have no probs with ball-type setup.

I think that with the inconsistency of the manufacturing (tolerances) that some work well, some work and some do not work. The ball type ends is what I use to sell with all my hose kits. Seemed like 10-15% of my Kubota customers would have some sort of problem. I went to the poppet type ends, no more problems. ;)

The OP did not say that his didn't work, just that they didn't flow very much. He has the ball type ends and if he would get the poppet type ends the flow would increase.

This reference lists both ball and poppet the same at 12 gpm. The OP only has 9.8 gpm of pump. With that said and since I am not a professional and seconds per cylinder cycle aren't as important, I like the ball type. They are quicker to clean before connecting. I do not cap the male ends, I just wipe down good. Caps tend to collect dirt when the tip is in use anyway.

I agree, just saying what I had to do to keep everyone in operating condition and happy. Sometimes what things are suppose to be are not. ;)

If you are worried about flow being marginal, just upsize the QD to prevent any restrictions.

Most charts will show that the poppet type QD will have a better flow rate, and less pressure drop.

If you have 3/8 in QD's, then use 1/2 in QD's.

Excerpt:

Poppet type QD's exceeds flow and pressure characteristics of
competitors ball designs.

Sometimes the stroke on the poppets/balls are not limited, so when connected, one will be way open, and the other nearly closed, and unfortunately, flow tends to shift that balance even further. So, sometimes it is helpful to get coupling halves from the same manufacturer so the spring force pressing on the poppets will better balance. If it is not possible to get them from the same manufacturer, just make sure when you press the poppets / balls by hand there is not a major mismatch in spring force.

I believe each manufacturer says just that.

I photos on here of matched sets doing what I describe, but they were probably Chinese.

Same issue with the ball style, I don't even stock them anymore. ISO A poppets is all we use for this connection. CJ

Anyone have a picture of an ISO A poppet?

Anyone have a picture of an ISO A poppet?

Google it and you will have a bunch come up. Also be aware it is hard to tell the difference just with a picture, ISO B will have the same connection size but the coupler itself will be bigger. CJ
