I recently purchased a Kubota L4240 and wanted to connect a log splitter to the rear remote hydraulics. I must admit, this is my first experience with remote hydraulics, so maybe I just don't understand how they should work, but the splitter isn't working much at all. Whenever I engage the tractor remotes (by bungeeing the remote handle back to the rops), there is suddenly a big load on the engine, even with the splitter's control in neutral. The splitter's cylinder will move out some, but hardly in at all.
My first thought was that the control valve on the splitter was defective. To test the tractor remotes, I just took a single hose and put quick connects on both ends of it and connected it to both of the quick attach fittings tractor side to create a loop. Whenever I engage the hydraulics, the engine loads up just the same. I would think that fluid should flow thu the loop without resistance in either direction. Can someone point me in the right direction?
