A coyote who attacks humans (especially one who repeatedly does so) is by definition preying upon humans.
Now how much of this is from people moving into the coyote's turf and disrupting its territory and/or food chain vs coyotes adapting to prey on people is hard to say, but I would be surprised to see the incidents of coyote attacks on humans go down anytime soon.

There is a HUGE difference between a few specimens (particular) and a species as a whole...just because one dog bites does not mean they all do...
Humans are not natural prey for coyotes...

I loved our cats, but, as said before, they were pretty much house cats (declawed, shots, keepein' an eye on 'em). Great companions, all. Nice to have some happy company at 4:00 a.m. with your coffee.

Especially when their covered in barbecue sauce !

This thread is global warming :)
It's a rather "heated" discussion!

Keith

350 degrees for 30 minutes should work to heat them up ,When your hungry fluffy will look great covered in sauce !

Doesn't matter whether it's mice, or chipmunks. Both are highly destuctive to wiring in vehicles of any type.

Not to mention the little bugger that tunneled under our garage slab. Spike took care of him the first year he was with us. Gummed that chippy six ways to Sunday. Gummed him dead.

This came in from an email list that sends daily jokes and I thought it appropriate:

Two robins were sitting in a tree. "I'm famished," said the first one.
"Me, too," said the second. "Let's fly down and find some lunch."
They flew down to the ground and found a nice piece of plowed land with lots of fresh worms. They ate, and ate, and ate 'till they could eat no more. "I'm so full, I don't think I can fly up to the tree," said the first.
"Me, either. Let's just lie here in the warm sun," said the first one.
No sooner had they had fallen asleep when a big fat tomcat snuck up and gobbled them up. As the cat sat washing his face after his meal, he thought, "I love Baskin' Robins."

When I started this thread, I knew it would "cause" discussion, which I think is a good thing. Feral cats are a HUGE problem and to the point of being devastating in some areas to the local wildlife. I have had maybe 4 cats in my life, if I want something to "rub" my leg in the morning, I prefer my wife, if we "aint in the mood" for that, I'll rub my own leg:D

I have noticed (with the 4 cats I had) some are more predatory than others, fact I had one that I'm pretty sure killed one bird (that I saw) and she never ventured off (unusual for a feline) The others where typical cats.

Now you factor in a cat that has been "thrown out" on its own , or any feral cat, they hunt ALLOT and multiply ALLOT, so in this regard I'm with Pine 100%

Everyone knows cats and dogs can be two different problems, but I think canines are easier to control. I have a problem with any wild population of UN-natural predators, but I think it takes very little brainpower to see cats can be a real problem. I can see where they provide a certain benefit (for an individual), but personally, I do what I can to discourage mice and the like from getting where they are not wanted, I dont kill snakes, they dont "scare" me, I encourage hawks and owls (if they get one of my chickens..oh well). The wife and I enjoy seeing the rabbits in the yard, the Bluebirds in the house we made.

Bottom line for me is this, cats left unattended are a parasite on the very part of the "country life" we all claim to enjoy, at the same time, they are part of the "country life" some enjoy, understandably so, I think it comes down to individual responsibility and that varies intensely between all areas of animal husbandry. You could also start a thread on invasive animals like starlings, Pythons as Pine mentioned.. We humans can be our own enemies from our own miss understanding and personal enjoyment.

Disclaimer:laughing: Yes, I am from the cloth that would say " He's a rapist( insert any violent criminal)!! hang his *****), others may say "lets rehabilitate him and turn him loose"

What would Geronimo say?

:listen::shhh::fight::ban:

Guess we better put coyotes (native) on the protected list since they are a good cat (invasive species) predator, particularly in urban neighborhoods:wolf::wolf::cat::wolf::pawprint:

Can the same logic be applied to us folks that are non-native to America?
