I joined a couple years ago and checked in all the time for the first year and a half or so but dont really come much anymore. The things that turned me off to TBN were-
the ability of some people to turn ANY thread into political ranting that had nothing to do with nothing. I swear if you asked what is a good brand of creamed corn you would have somebody turn it into how the government is out to get us!

All the threads and comments that can be boiled down to "This new thing/idea/technology scares me and I think its dumb! Who agrees? If you dont agree you are even more stupid than I thought!"

The general grumpiness of people that make me feel like I am reading the rantings of that relative we all have you cant make happy. You know, the one that would complain if you gave them a gold bar because its too heavy to carry in their pocket.

Overall the general negativity turned me off. I still check in a bit. There is a TON of good information on rural lifestyle things and I come back for that stuff.

LOL LOL I thought that was just my life..lol and lets not forget the ones we do things for and they appreciate them by telling us they are done wrong and a '''pro'' never would do such work..LOL

The cheapest I ever paid for a gallon of gas was 29.9 cents per gallon. I remember pulling into a gas station with my buddies and everybody chipped in and we'd buy 65 cents worth of gas.

hmm.. I think the cheapest I ever paid was somewhere in the high 60's cent range.

I think that if we compare the number of tbn posters who turn things political compared to the total number who use this board we would see its a relatively small percentage. Most here are just interested in rural living and farming and of course our "toys". I've enjoyed many threads and would rather see the politics quickly moved. Also those who turn threads political could have privileges rerstricted.

Wishing a good day to all,
Loren

If it wasnt for the Front Porch and Rural Living sub-forums most members would never know there are political discussions on here_that is where the Friendly Politics forum spill over and not into such forums as Welding or Hydraulics or Snow Blowing etc

BTW the Friendly Politics forum is pretty tamed compared to those real dedicated politic sites everywhere else.

TBN is much busier now and IMO better than it ever was, but then I am not into nostalgia at all

I started driving with a permit in 1976. I remember paying under .50. I think maybe .48 or .49. When I got my license in 77 my buddies and I would fight over paying .50 vs .55. I've told that story several times here.... 4 guys fighting over fifty cents difference in 10 gallons, or, 12.5 cents each person!

man you guys are old! :D All of this talk about gas prices makes me feel young. I got my license/ permit in 2000, and gas was around $1.25. Funny how in 23 years it just barely doubled, but in the last 12 it has tripled!

Hmm. When I started driving, gas was .25 cents per gallon; I saw it as low as 18 cents at one time during a gas war. It was still expensive; wages were about .75 cents per hour.
