General Grabber AT2's on my truck now, love them!
I have these too, and I think they are the best all around tire I have had. Off road they are great, but I expected that. They also run great on wet roads and ponding, with no hydroplaning. I hoped they would be at least average on snow and ice, and find these are by far the best in those conditions. I am shocked at how the treads stay clear in even the worst snow conditions.

Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac

for good reason. That's a true HD tire; wonder how it stacks up to "conventional" E rated truck tires? Stronger sidewalls? More steel or Kevlar?

So how's the ride of those Goodyears?

What's nice is that there really are about half a dozen good quality tires to choose from, some tougher, some better in snow, some last longer, some ride better, etc.
Then there's a second tier of another half dozen tires that offer lower prices.
For grandpop's truck that gets about 5000 miles on it, maybe he'd like a softer ride...

I rarely get flats, but when I do it's always nails or metal slivers. Never wrecked a sidewall or had it blow out on me. I'm careful, but not paranoid about tire pressure. The cool thing with Onstar is GM sends me a monthly email telling me what the tire pressure is on each four tires by accessing TPMS. And on one very cold morning when the car was left out, it even sent me an email suggesting I put some air in one tire. Which I of course did to all four.
I only trust this system so far.

But if this system had been on those Ford Explorers with the underinflated Firestones, think of the lives that might have been saved.

So far the DuraTracs have been good. Only other set of tires on this truck were the factory 285 Hankook MT03's. They were good and I got 60,000 miles out of them. The GY seem to have better wet traction for sure.

My neighbor is on his 3rd set on his Dmax. They are twice the tire the factory Bridgestone tires were.

It's too bad brands are not equal across the product line.

Had good service from Goodyear in the 70's...

Mom's corolla came with Goodyears, her neighbors came with Michelin... same year model bought within a couple of weeks... I even say Goodyear and Michelin on the Toyota assembly line at NUMMI

The Goodyears on her car were never satisfactory... they squealed driving the 25 mph limit on the road to her house and had terrible tread wear... replaced them with Michelin's... no more squeal and easily 50% more longevity...

My G20 Van came with Goodyear and the same experience and I was glad I switched to Michelin.
