Backhoe rock bucket for bx25

does anyone know if they make a bucket for the bx25 for digging in rocky soil? i am in the process of moving any was digging a ditch for my water line and the rocks are to much for the little digger i got the ditch about a foot and a half deep witch if fine for the temporary water line i need but when i go digging the footing for the house im going to have built and the new septic leach field and other stuff i will need to go deeper. i am a welder by trade and i know i could fab one up but i was hoping i might be able to find on already made. thanks

You can get rock teeth for fullsize backhoe buckets. We used to do that when we cleared out fencerows with a Case 580 super k. Reckon you could beef up your bx's bucket and add rock teeth to it? Have not had any seat time on those. I looked at them long and hard before I bought my 4200, and decided to get a mini ex when funds got available. LUTT

I have a BX.

If you have rocky /heavy soil and you need to do alot of excavation as it sounds like you do, I suggest renting a proper excavator or having it contracted.

The Bx is a good LITTLE tractor. Excavating a decent size foundation and septic field with a BX could turn into a life's work

Even a few hundred feet of open ditch can take DAYS in hard digging conditions using a BX.

Different teeth might help, but that ignores the BX's light weight and tiny bucket.

The backhoe bucket comes with teeth so you should be able to work the rocks that are small enough to work with a 12" bucket. If you are that rock infested then you might want to look at a bigger machine to rent and save the BX for clean-up.

If you are digging via BH bucket - then I think what you are looking for is something to loosen the soil so its easier to dig. Bro-tek makes a root ripper. Bro-Tek Ripper Tooth If you can weld - I think you can weld up one cheaper and faster before it comes to the door via shipping. You could try picking up a box blade ripper shank Box Blade Ripper Shank - 2118118 | Tractor Supply Company and weld up your own ripper so you can dig better with the backhoe bucket.

If you are using a 12" bucket on a BX you aren't going to dig much hard material with it. The 12" bucket on my B 26 (4000 pounds total weight) makes for hard digging in hard clays with a few rocks due to not enough weight for the machine to put enough pressure on the bucket to dig in. I put the 7" bucket (18" cut to a 7" by original owner) and it digs fairly well. That is the one I use for digging up trees, trenching for water lines etc where I don't need a wide ditch. It cuts pretty good with the 7" but is pretty slow with the 12" even with digging teeth on it. I don't know what sizes are available for the BX but you need something smaller than a 12" for that light machine.

thanks everyone. i agree a bigger digger would save time but the rocks here are mostly smaller than a basket ball. and i have been able to dig it just takes a lot longer. also i doesnt bother me if it takes a little longer to do all the digging myself, im not in a big rush to build my house although me and the wife and boy are staying in a travel trailer on the land. the smaller bucket with the big ripper tooth may be just what i need. thanks again for all the help.

i have about 20 hours running the backhoe, digging up trees and digging a few ditches one about 100ft 18 24 inches deep and its a great little digger if your not in a hurry but if you are trying to make money with it then its just to slow. my brother does concrete and he borrowed my bx for a small job and he liked it but his his bobcat with the backhoe attachment has more power, but at the same time he has used some mini ex's and he sad the bx is not to far behind them. the minis are easer to move around you don't have to get off and flip the seat around every time you want to move.

Thanks, the minis I was looking at are about 7000 to 10000 pound range,30 to 50 horse, they are pretty stout, been looking at the 341 bobcat,zd 35 and 50 deere. It is a weight thing, you probly have more power than weight on your bx. If I had a way of moving one. I would own a 200lc deere. I have a lot of seat time in one of those. LUTT
