Thank you, yes I am looking forward to summer as well, charged up the battery in my bike and fired it up in the shed, but driving is still 3 months away at least up here. Sorry when I asked how much should have looked at the page before with the info attached My mistake:thumbdown:

Heh, I didn't even catch that - no big deal! It was my error anyway, I should have "cut" that portion when I quoted you. :)

Heres my current setup, 65hp landini, 12f/12r with shuttle shift, 7' provost blower, 8' hd plow, and theres a snow bucket for the loader.

Having the dozer blade close to the front wheels like this makes a lot of sense to me as opposed to a blade sticking way out ahead of the loader. An even better method (IMHO) would be to have the angle pivot for the blade located between the two front wheels. This would swing the blade outwards as well and help offset the side draft caused by the blade angle.

To those of you that work on an open tractor: what do you wear while you are plowing or blowing snow? I've got an old snowmobile suit that leaks like a sieve and I am looking for something to keep me warm and dry. Thanks, Otto

Wow, you guys have waaaay more snow than here

It didn't look like that just a week ago, but we had snow every other day since. It's heavy wet snow, tough on the equipment.

I plow...
I wear a wool hat with earflaps, heavy gloves, flannel shirt with a wool vest and an oilskin coat made by Filson (they call the oilskin "tincloth"). The coat is what keeps me dry....very heavy duty. By the way, the hat is also a Filson product...definitely warm and dry!
Trousers are flannel lined and fairly water resistant (got 'em from Wal-Mart, of all places) and a winter boot.

Dressing for snow plowing on an open station tractor is mostly a matter of layering and common sense...and knowing when to go inside for breaks, if at all possible.

You guys looking for a front mount kit, get ahold of M.K.Martin in Elmira,ON and talk to the salesman. He will tell you if their kit will fit your tractors. The contact number and email address is on the webpage.

MK Martin | Meteor Snow Blowers

I am not in any way connected to M.K.Martin. Nor will I see any profit or favours from this shameless plug.

I'm confused. Do you wear your antler cap on top of the wool hat? Kinda sounds like you look like Ralphies little brother in "a christmas story" when you're plowing. A flask in one hand and the wheel in the other maybe? That's how I do it anyway.

That's a bull and those are horns...maybe that lessens your confusion.

Anyway, yep...the Filson hat (called a Mackinaw hat) does look like a hat in "A Christmas Story". This style hat was quite popular years ago...of course, most men weren't too style conscious then.
It definitely serves it's purpose....keeping my head and ears warm and dry.

You're funny Roy. And quite stylish! Maybe some pics the next time you're all duded up for the snow? Please? And what's in your flask? I like JD in mine in the snow. Warms my belly and makes me happy. Not that I've ever been on my tractor in anything other than a sober way-hey hey.
