whining hydrostatic

Hi Was wondering if someone could tell me just how much my new mahindra 2816 should whine when i press the forward or reverse peddle it was just delivered yesterday and noticed that it seems to whine pretty loud also what rpms should i be running this tractor at when using the loader can anyone help me with this? thanks

Generally you will hear more whine in hi range until the tractor gets going, lower in mid and almost nonexistent in low. I work mostly in med and the whining is minimal. There is a grease jerk for the pedal pivot under the floor board.

If I feather my pedal mine seems to whine more also. When the pedal is pushed all the way down the whine goes away.

You may even get more brand and model specific answers (2816) if you post in the Mahindra section.

does that fitting grease the rod going into the unit? should it jump right back? it comes back up like a hatch on a car raising on its own

I don't know about Mahindra but my tractor has a grease fitting on the hydro pedal where it pivots on it's mount.

There is some damping on the return of the pedal, but the tractor always stops as you raise your toe off the pedal. I would imagine cold can effect the speed of return somewhat, but I live in GA and it really doesn't get very cold for extended periods here.

ya it does always stop do you check you fluid level on your mahindra with it running or shut off?

I have always checked with the engine off and setting on level ground, All Hydros whine some. But some are much noisier than others. The smaller the tractor it seems the more they whine, Some of the Kubota users have reported major whine reduction by switching to SUDT2 fluid. The colder it is the more they whine, and of course the higher the range you are in, and the more load you are putting on it, the louder it will whine. When it just screams at you, then you have the parking brake on (don't ask how I know:ashamed:). The newer they are the more they whine, As they break in, they whine a little less, My current tractor has less whine than any of the 3 hydro's I have owned. My neighbor had a BX Kubota for a while, and it whined pretty loud.. Some users have reported that filling the lower Part of the ROPS with spray in insulation foam made a big difference in the whine, and indicated the belief that the whine sound was resonating up thru the ROPS. Good luck with your new tractor.
