Dan ---Oh Dan....Pickled Herring and Herring in Cream Sauce are wonderful. Go to Sam's club and they sell both is big jars....I could eat a jar in one sitting but would not ...and again I rarely have it...but between my son and I , one or the other of us buys a couple of jars every year for each other...when we get so hungry for it with some crusty bread and a glass of Merlot...enjoy.

NO NO NO!:laughing::laughing: That stuff just looks NASTY! NASTY! :confused2::ashamed:

I will take the bread and even a glass of Merlot. Feed that Nasty Pickled Herring to the cats! Better yet, poison the Coyotes with it! :D:D:D

Later,
Dan

I'm with Brin on this one too. Pickled herring (I like it in a cream sauce) with a warm fresh bagel is heaven! I never had it as a kid so thank you Lord for giving me Jewish roommates in college!

This thread really is showing regional cooking and all the varied tastes. I love raw oysters, but my wife would rather eat boogers. Her idea of seafood is shrimp, boiled or fried and catfish fillets if the have no fishy taste whatsoever.

Hah. We have a retired Orthopedic Surgeon in our car club; he also loves and rides Harleys. I asked him one time, considering his profession, how he can he in good conscience ride a motorcycle. He laughed and said, "Yeah, I've had to get up at 3:00 in the morning many a time to put these guys back together, but I like riding and I'm as careful as I know how to be. I try to ride smart and so far so good". I much prefer his mint '55 Chevy Bel Air Sport Coupe to a Harley any day.

Hey that is my motto for the last two years - he stole it and changed eat and eating to ride and riding!

"I like eating and I'm careful as I know how to be. I try to eat smart and so far so good." - TxDon

(At least he is smart enough to adopt the motto before a crash.)

Since it is 80˚ outside this evening - Taco Salad is on the menu with a Spicy Lime Cilantro Sauce.

OK, we part ways here. I really love sushi, sashimi and most any raw seafood. In New England it is mostly clams and oysters at the traditional places with sushi/sashimi becoming very popular in the past twenty years or so. We have a restaurant in Boston, the Union Oyster House, with the original bar where Daniel Webster used to lunch daily on something like three dozen oysters and a pint of brandy. The restaurant is essentially the same today.
