I have seen the steamed burgers on food network looks interesting! I sure have not tried one yet though. The place they showed on tv was a small little building even was using the same steamers they started with maybe a hundred years old I think I got that right?

Car Doc

The place on food net. Was "ted's" it is in Meriden Ct. One of the first to make the steamed cheese burger. They are on the 3 owner that I know of still popular in area. Have been around a long time. K. Lamay's is the big competition to teds and doing a great job use a better cheese when you use a lesser quality cheese it gets "rubbery". I have my own steamer and every once in a wile find the need to fire it up.

While not really a steamed hamburger, we've got White Castle here, they sell steam cooked hamburgers, little square burgers with holes in the patties, then they throw the buns on top for a few minutes before they scoop them up. We drive 45 miles one way, once a month, just to sit and eat those delicious little devils.

When I attended the Tennessee Law Enforcement Acadamy - TLETA many years ago, we were only allowed to leave the acadamy once a week. That was on Wednesday evening from 6-9pm. We would call ahead and order 45 dozen White Castle Burgers in Nashville. At first the White Castle employees thought it was a Hoax. BTW, my Buddies and I would eat what we wanted, and sold the extra Burgers at a modest profit. I still LOVE them.

When I was on the USS Ranger during Desert Storm, the Chiefs Mess had half pound burgers cooked to order for lunch and dinner (all the trimings) Huge burgers. Great food while boots on the ground folked were probably eating MRE's.
